Travis Casey Obituary
Coach Travis Griffin Casey, 76, known as "Coach Bud" Auburn, Alabama, passed away at Arbor Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Opelika, Alabama, on Thursday, May 28, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 6, 2015, at Cornerstone Church, 2123 Hamilton Road, Auburn, AL 36830, with Reverend Rusty Hutson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to All-Start Football Inc., Nat Hill-Bud Casey Football Memorial, c/o Ruben Hill, Camp Director, 164 South Kite Drive, LaGrange, GA 30240, telephone number, (706) 402-5664. Born November 15, 1939, Coach Casey achieved many goals during his lifetime: High School All-American, Dothan, Alabama; High School All-Star; Wiregrass Hall of Fame; North-South game; Bear Bryant's first freshman team; Miami Dolphins' first signing team; North Eastern State University Hall of Fame Class of 2000; graduated with a Master's from Northeastern University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma; coached at Northeastern, Tampa University, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, Auburn University, TCU, Tennessee Titans scout, Troy State University assistant; Bud and Amos TV Talk Sports; played with the Florida Brahmans and the Dothan Colts (semi-pro teams); and ticket sales and fund raising. Coach Casey is survived by his daughter, Starr Casey VerMeulen (Dirk); sons, Scott Casey (Beth), Bart Casey (Davina); sisters-in law, Debbie Cobb Baker, Jean Cobb Whiddon, Linda Cobb; brothers-in law, Phil Cobb; Frank Rhodes, Ken Baker, Joel Whiddon, Ted Jolley; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Casey, Libby Casey, Mac Casey, Will VerMeulen, Luke VerMeulen, Maggie Casey, Casey VerMeulen, Isabella VerMeulen, Lillie Casey; many wonderful nephews, nieces, players, friends; and Mary Ann (Cobb) Casey, forever friend. He is preceded in death by parents, J.T. and Radie Casey; sisters, Bobbie Cain, Sue Moss; parents-in-law, Edward Lee and B.Y. Cobb; brothers-in-law, Ron Cobb, Bennie Cain, and Joe Moss.
