Being one of Kevin's first cousins I was broadsided by the news of his death, but I do have lots of memories of him despite being 15 years his senior. Here was this blond tow headed kid who was happy go lucky and sometimes a pain in the rear, but was always good to have around. My memories of him when he was very young are murky. I do remember visiting Decatur when he was the only Maddox kid left in the house, and him showing me his secret tire swing out in the woods near Oakcrest Court. The next time I saw him he was a captain and helicopter pilot full of enthusiasm and self confidence. We both sat in the cockpit of the Delta helicopter he flew, and he demonstrated how the sensor pod worked and what it could do. I was pretty impressed with my cousin. Here was the tow headed kid all grown up and doing good. I will sure miss him and pray that Sabrina and Paul, Karen and Gary and his brothers Wade, Craig, and Jim can heal somewhat from the grief. Thank you all who took care of them during this hard time and to everyone who came to the church to celebrate Kevin's life and for sharing your memories here.

Sabrina, Mr.& Mrs. Maddox & brothers,
Please except my deepest sympathy.
I thought the world of Kevin. I had an especially great time with him at Bible School last summer, also at "His" blood drive on the blood mobile. I saw the comical side of Kevin on those two occasions :)!
He will be missed so very much. He was a wonderful young man and such a joy to our Church.
GOD grant all of you some peace and understanding at this time and for all the days ahead.

I'd like to extend my condolences to the Maddox family. Kevin was a very close childhood friend of my brother, Scott. Loyal and ever present in our house on Summit Court, I have many fond memories of him. My brother forwarded me the picture of Kevin, Sabrina, and Paul, shortly after Paul's birth. Never was there a more proud husband and papa! I will cherish that image, too, always.

To the Maddox Family -
It's news you never want to hear and I'm saddened to hear of your loss. I grew up with Kevin and as we went from kindergarten to adulthood I had the honour of watching him follow his dreams and making them come true. I’ll never forget the memories: riding our bikes, video games on the Apple II, the swings at Franklin, learning to drive, the water slide at Knight’s, taking the canoe out on Lake Decatur, the one-off Scott & Kevin show on WJMU, and cheering him on as he became an officer, a married man, and a father... I’m sorry I won’t be able to add any more memories to that list, but I’ll never forget him and I’ll miss him dearly.
My heart goes out to you.

Our heartfelt condolences to Wade and the entire Maddox family. Words cannot express the sadness we feel in our hearts for the loss you have suffered. Often it seems that you spend more time with your co-workers than your own families, thus your co-workers become part of your extended family. Though many of us never had the fortune to have met Kevin, we feel as though we knew him due to the fact that Wade spoke of him often and could not have been more proud of his little brother and his accomplishments. Kevin was so young, yet had accomplished so much in his lifetime. Our thoughts are with Wade and his family during this very difficult time.
With sincere condolences,
Beth Ann Dal Bianco

Dear Maddox Family,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your son, husband, father, and brother, Kevin. While we never had the opportunity to meet Kevin, Wade spoke often of him. The pride he felt for his brother the doctor was apparent to all. No doubt Kevin shared many of the same wonderful attributes as his brother, Wade. Our thougths and prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Wade's friends and colleagues at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Bangor, Maine.

Gary and Karen,
We are at such a loss for words and can not imagine your grief. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
I have such fond memories of your family and what a wonderful job you did raising 4 sons. I thought of you often while raising my 3. Kevin was such a sweet little boy when we first moved next door to you in 1978, and then I was lucky to see him several years ago to see what a fine young man he had become as I knew he would.
We are so very sorry.

So sad to learn of Kevin. He was in my Cub Scout group. He was always full of energy and very smart. He loved being a Scout. I am not surprised when I saw he was a Captain in the Army. I remember I gave him the responsibility of caring the U.S. Flag at one of the pack meeting ceremonies and leading our den. His dad told me of how he had practiced caring the flag carefully (to avoid the overhead wire in the church)at home, and accidently pocked a hole in the ceiling. He was a good boy and always smiling. It does leave me with a good feeling that he turned out to be a very good adult and leader.Danny P.Smith(Robby's Dad)
