BISHOP, CATHY
Cathy Bishop, 57, of Alachua, Florida peacefully died surrounded by family on February 18, 2018 at the York Haven Hospice Center in Gainesville.
A celebration of her life will be held March 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Tower Hill
Wellness Center, 7201 NW 11th Place, Gainesville.
Cathy was born July 8, 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of James and Carole (Furlong) Meyer. She graduated from Wahlert High School in 1978 and attended the University of Iowa. On April 18, 1992 she was united in marriage to David Bishop. For over twenty years she was employed by Tower Hill Insurance as a quality review analyst.
Cathy was a warm and loving wife, mother, and friend. She was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes and had a special place in her heart for her pets Gabi, Grover, and Arya. Cathy's first thought was always for others. The courage, strength, and good humor she maintained through the final year of her illness was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; son, Kyle; her brother, James Meyer of Mesa, Arizona, sister, Michele (Mike) Brimeyer of Gainesville. Along with her special cousin, Kerry; she leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will greatly miss her.
Cathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and daughter, Carly.
A service for her in
Dubuque is planned for a later date.
