RICKIE LONG Obituary
Rickie Long, 60 of Gainesville, Florida left his earthly home on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Mr. Long was a member of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church, and a graduate of Gainesville High School 'Class of 1976. His memory will be forever in the hearts of his love ones; son Mikal Craig, Hawthorne, FL, brothers Rodney Long (Carol), and Harry Jones, both of Gainesville, FL, sisters, Williene Washington, Indianapolis, IN, Sharon Mann, Quawance Johnson (Israel), and Vanessa Williams (Leroy), all of Gainesville, FL, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Long will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Showers of Blessing Harvest Center, 2615 SE 15th Street, Gainesville, FL 32641, Apostle Willie L. King, Jr., officiating and Prophetess Linda King Pastors. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Under the care of Chestnut Funeral Home 18th NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, Fl. Visitation will be Friday November 2, 2018, from 2:00PM-5:00PM at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, and 6:00PM-7:30PM at Shower Of Blessings Harvest Center. On Saturday at the church one hour before the service. The cortege will form at the home of his sister Mrs. Janice Johnson, 2912 NE 10th Street at 10:15AM, Gainesville.

Harry, Rodney and your entire family, I was sadden to hear about the passing of your loved one, Ricky. As I knew him, he was a fun, happy going and loving person. Those are the memories that I have kept of him since GHS days and will always have. Allow your fond memories, stories and so much more linger with you for life. My sincere condolences to you all.

My heart was sadden to hear of the passing of Ricky. As I knew him, nice and friendly person he was. To Harry, Rodney and the rest of his family, hold on to the wonderful memories you all made. I've held on to them since GHS days. Forever grateful that God deemed it necessary for us to cross one another's paths. Ricky was a fun and beautiful person.

I remember all of us running and playing up and down 19th St. Though as time would have it we grew up and moved on but never forgetting where we came from or those we came up with.
