Terry Dowling Obituary
TERRY RANDAL, 57
Mr. Terry Randal 'Randy' Dowling, 57, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at his residence following an illness. He was the son of the late James Lonnie and Mary Ann Beasley Dowling. He made Lake City his home for the past nineteen years. He was a member of the PBA, an Honorary member of the Fort White FFA, and enjoyed NASCAR. His favorite driver was Tony Stewart. Randy also raced on the asphalt track at Ellisville speed way. He enjoyed photography, playing golf, fishing and time spent with his dog, Simba. After moving to Lake City he started his career with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, earning his way through the ranks while serving on the Dive Team, CIB/Tactical unit, and serving as school resource officer. He was promoted to Corporal in 2003, and retired in 2011. He continued to serve as a reserve deputy. He was also very active with young people during his time with the Sherriff's Office with D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education).
He is survived by his two sons, Michael Dowling (Bayleigh) Newberry, FL; Dakota Dowling, Bronson, FL; one daughter, Stefanie Dowling, Bronson, FL; his step-mother, Bertha Dowling, Sebring, FL; his fiance,' Jill Huesman, Lake City, FL; six brothers, Jamie Dowling, Paul Dowling, Winter Haven, FL; Scott Dowling, Johnny Nelson and Billy Nelson all of Sebring, FL; and Charlie Nelson, Alachua, FL; two sisters, Lisa Tillman (Lynn) High Springs, FL; and Carol Ann Charles (Michael), Slidell, LA.
Funeral services for Mr. Dowling will be conducted Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at 2:00 P.M. at the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery at 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL. Visitation with the family will be held Friday November 11, 2016 from 6:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Dees-Parrish Family Funeral Home Chapel. I knew Randy since high school we attended Santa Fe high in alachua/high springs together. I remember when he became a deputy I neverseen anyone more suited for a job. Randy was a good man all the way around I know he will be missed by many. I was so sad to hear this I am praying for all his family so sorry..

So sorry to hear this. Randy was good friend of our family. My husband helped build Randy's race car and helped him at the track. He worked with my son at Fort White with the DARE Program and as the schools resource officer. He would stop by every so often to see my husband and catch up. My son followed in Randy's footsteps and became a Columbia County Deputy recently. He will be greatly missed.

Randy was a great friend of mine. WE looked out for each other. He helped me tremendously in my judicial campaign. He was one of those men who knew how to be a friend and was always there when needed. Our world is a poorer place because of this loss. I will miss him and remember him always. I pray God's peace and comfort for his family and friends.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Officer Dowling was such a Great Guy! My daughter loved him when she was in the DARE program at school. We also used to see him at the fair every year back then. Will keep you all in my prayers. RIP Officer Dowling! Heaven gained another Angel!
