Sallie Sims Obituary

Sallie Frances Penick Sims Mrs. Sallie Frances Penick Sims of River Road, South Boston, Va., died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Berry Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 90. Mrs. Sims was born in Halifax County on April 25, 1923, to the late Mr. Johnnie Daniel Penick and Mrs. Lucinda M. Marble Penick. She was married to the late Mr. Raymond Sims and was a member of New Arbor Baptist Church. Mrs. Sims is survived by Ms. Patricia Chambers of New York, whom she raised; four sisters, Ms. Rosa Ballou of South Boston, Va., Ms. Annie Smith of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Nancy Ballou and husband, Pete, of South Boston, Va., and Ms. Lucinda Edmunds of Ringgold, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Penick and Mrs Wynonie Penick; one aunt, Ms. Marion Marable; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Medley and Mrs. Hanna Medley; and two brothers, Mr. Johnnie F. Penick and Mr. Robert Penick. Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Frances Penick Sims will be Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 12 p.m. at New Arbor Baptist Church with the Rev. Nelson Stamps officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the residence, 14044 River Road, South Boston, Va. Public viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Funeral Services are by Jeffress Funeral Home, South Boston, Va.
