As a member of the East Hartford Board of Education - many years ago, I knew Dr. Drumm when he was first hired in East Hartford to serve as the principal for Pitkin Elementary school. The became the Superintendent of schools shortly. He wanted to be responsible for the learning of all of East Hartford's students. A caring and forward looking educator. He will be greatly missed. Farewell with blessings, my friend. Prescille F Yamamoto

I was lucky enough to meet George once, after Kevin and Brie's wedding. He was friendly and easy to converse with. We talked about our children's wedding and marriage, and it was evident that George loved and was very proud of his daughter. I am very sorry for your loss. May George live on in your hearts and memories.

To the family of George Drumm, Please accept my deepest sympathy. I have only wonderful memories of Mr. Drumm.

George was my sixth-grade teacher at Brackett school in Hartford. In my opinion, and through my young eyes, he was the best teacher ever. He was a giant in my eyes, with a crew cut and wing-tipped shoes. I misbehaved once in his class and he knew that I never delivered his note to my parents, he never said anything. That was my 1966-1967.

Jump ahead to 1977, I was the secretary for the Hartford Public schools' Teachers' Center and Doctor Drumm joined our team as the UConn liason. I was still awed by Dr. Drumm, even then, and he was much funnier and so easygoing.

That's when I found out he knew about the aforementioned note. He, also, knew none of the students ever told our parents about our scholastic misdeeds or his choice of consequences.

I don't know if George was a better teacher or boss. I'll always have fond memories. Yes, I'm rambling.

Fortunately, we had the pleasure to meet George once or twice over the past few years. He was always just the nicest person to everyone around him, and his love for Sharon, Michelle, Stephen, Nora, Claire and Jackie was obvious. We are very sorry for everyone´s loss.

George Drumm was the best administrator I worked with in my 31 years in East Hartford! He was so genuine. Through his example, he made you want to be a better teacher! He was the Superintendent when our paths crossed. My only regret is that he was never my principal! My heartfelt condolences to his family.
