Malcolm Goldsby Obituary

Malcolm Edward Goldsby
02/14/1931 - 05/31/2025
Malcolm "Mac" Edward Goldsby, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away in Montgomery County, Texas on May 31, 2025. Mac was born on February 4, 1931 in Amite, Louisiana. His rural childhood adventures solidified his love of the great outdoors. He was proud of his Louisiana heritage and had a keen interest in family genealogy. He was the 1948 senior class president of Amite high school and after graduation he proudly served in the US Air Force for 6 years during the Korean War. He was a founding member of the Valley Lodge Trail Ride Association and head Trail Boss for 6 years, as well as a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. He owned Goldsby's Auto Service, an Exxon service station, for 40 years. He also owned a hamburger restaurant called PO-MACS Hamburgers that catered to the local Memorial area. He met the love of his life, Martha Ann Mahoney, while visiting Kemah, TX during his high school summer vacation. They kept up their long-distance relationship and were married after his Air Force service was over. They enjoyed raising their family, entertaining guests, community activities, and traveling extensively in their later years. Their travels enabled them to meet new people and share their love of history. They were lovingly married just short of 67 years. Mac was an avid outdoorsman and devoted father who taught his children hunting and fishing. He was also a skilled fix-it man who could repair almost anything. He passed along this ability to his children. He had an impeccable memory and loved to talk and share his stories with everyone. He is survived by his son, Malcolm Goldsby (Maribeth) and grandchildren, John and Chris; his son, Michael Goldsby (Sue) and grandchildren, Austin, Sean and Marshall; his daughter, Mary Goldsby; his sister-in-law, Eileen Evans; cherished longtime family friend, Marsha Hawkins; and dear friend, Erica Zelek . He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission, www.honoredmission.org, or to the charity of your choice. Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. 8227 County Road 205, Plantersville, TX 77363.

Mac was a great Husband, Dad, friend, Valley Lodge neighbor, and trail ride boss. He was kind to all us kids and kept us on track. He was someone who was approachable and comfortable to be with. He listened. He was funny.

I remember Mac and his Exxon Station, to a T. My parents went there on the regular. I remember him giving my mom a Tiger Tail for the gas tank for our car. I also dropped her credit card down the window. Mac just laughed, and was able to get it out. He was awesome. I had the pleasure of running around with some great kids, one in particular was Malcolm. He was as kind as his dad.
I´m very grateful, for those junior high and high school years. RIP Mac, well deserved and you will always be missed.

I remember Mr. Goldsby very well from my days at Spring Branch Junior High and Memorial High School. I remember when he opened Po-Mac's. It was always great fun to drop in there. He always greeted us with a smile and a kind word. He was always very nice to us kids and a very good example to us all. The world needs more people like him.

My parents were regulars at Mac´s gas station. He was considered a family friend. As a young kid I loved riding my bike to PoMacs hamburgers. Rest in peace Mr. Goldsby!

I worked at Goldsby Exxon in the mid-70s while going to Memorial High. He was a great man and always took time to help teach me little things about fixing cars and more importantly about customer service. RIP Mr. Goldsby. Prayers and positive thoughts to the family, sorry for your loss.
