Jim Nally Obituary

Jim J. Nally
1932 - 2015
On October 24, 2015, Jim J. Nally passed away at Saint Lukes Hospital in Meridian due to heart failure.
Born to parents Vern and Blanch Nally on a small farm in Tarkio, Missouri December 25, 1932, the third of five brothers.
Jim served in the Army 1953- 1955 and was honorably discharged.
Jim met Marcella Kelly in Oakland, California, where it was love at first sight. They married five weeks later in Reno, Nevada, on April 25, 1959.
They moved to Idaho in 1960 where Jim worked as a carpenter on the missile base in Mountain Home. In 1961, he joined the Boise Fire Department where he retired as Assistant Battalion Chief on October 5, 1978. Jim spent 17 years at the department where he made many lifelong friends with men he considered brothers.
Jim owned and operated Nally's Porcelain Repair, from 1970 until 1995.
Over the years Jim had good times square dancing, playing handball, and cards. Upon retirement, he enjoyed golfing in Boise and fishing in Donnelly where they owned a cabin. They wintered in Arizona where he loved to play Shuffleboard, winning 1st place in the 2010 Snowbird Classic Tournament in Yuma.
His greatest joys were his daughter Connie Schmidt, son Steve Nally and their families. Summer barbecues and holiday gatherings were the highlights of his life.
Jim is survived by his wife Marcella, daughter Connie and Ken Schmidt of Boise, son Steve and Lorri Nally of Meridian, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brothers Chuck and John of California, and Doyle of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale of Iowa.
Dads parting comment to all of us gathered were "Tally-ho and all that stuff!"
We are very grateful to the doctors and nurses in ICU for their efforts and loving care of our Dad.
Jim's Graveside Service will be held at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens (4225 W Fairview Ave, Meridian, ID) at 1:00PM Monday, November 2, 2015. A reception will follow immediately afterward one block east at Cloverdale Funeral Home (1200 North Cloverdale Road).

Dear Family, my late husband was a fellow firefighter with Jim and considered him a good friend. I believe Jim bought a motorcycle from Gene. I know there were happy times then. He spoke of Jim often and we visited once while we were all in AZ. I am truly sorry for your loss.
