My most vivid memory is of Bob playing Keith Whitley songs on May 9, 1989, when it was learned that Keith had passed away. I was driving a truck for Yellow Freight System and when Keith's songs began playing, one after the other, I just knew. The shock of a 34-year-old youngster dying was so great that even tears wouldn't flow, but my memory of Keith's voice on the Indianapolis radio station remains strong and clear even after almost 36 years. God bless Bob and his family, friends and legions of people (and dog!) of all ages impacted by the great good he did!

I grew up watching Cowboy Bob on Channel 4 when I was a little kid in the 70's and 80's. I meet him once when he visited my hometown of Covington indiana in around 89-90. He was such a gentleman. At the time I was 19 years old. Now at 53,I still consider him an important part of my childhood. He was and still is my childhood hero.

Such sad news, Cowboy Bob was a real friend to Morgan County Humane Society, and as the fundraising chairman he was always willing to help if called upon to MC an event. He will be sadly missed. He so loved the lost andneglected dogs of the world. Julie Partridge

Cowboy Bob...I will never forget you! I had the pleasure of meeting you 38 years ago at my kindergarten graduation from Dena's Daycare Center. You were our very special guest! I remember when you handed me my diploma, you smiled and gave me a big hug, as you did with all of the students graduating. Thank you for always greeting me in the morning on WTTV-4 and for being a part of such a special day in my life (Kindergarten graduation). Rest in Heaven!

Sad to hear about Bob. Our condolences to Gail. Being a neighbor, we often saw Bob and Gail walking their dogs. We also walked our white husky and Bob would sometimes stop and speak to us as he drove by. Always friendly and loved his dogs. Our boys watched his show growing up. May he Rest in Peace.

Rest in Peace, you deserve it Sir! My two kids were on your show around 1978. They are now in their 40s but I still remember, "stop, drop and roll."
As a parent you always know the people that were good to your kids. Thank You "Cowboy Bob" for being good to me kids.

My condolences to Bob's sister, my Ball State friend, Tommye. Her stories of their childhood enriched my image of Cowboy Bob's persona. To the entire family, may your hearts continue onward with tender and joyful memories of a life dedicated to the goodness of our culture.

My deepest sympathies to Gail & her family for their loss. I was shocked to hear the news. I grew up watching Channel 4 TV. The station was just down the street from my home then. I've not crossed paths with Bob in many years, but I'd usually see Bob at the Stony Creek Pumpkin patch, here in Noblesville, where I've lived for 40 years. He was funny & full of life. Very often I'm asked to recall the memories I have with the WTTV-4 family I worked with from 1972-77. Cowboy Bob, Janie, Peggy, Sammy (Bob Carter)Terry, News, camera, engineering crews. I had a great time there. I worked in the film editing dept. with Bob's wife, Gail. Got to see their courtship begin. Even double dated once. Bob & I'd go over cartoon schedules for that weeks shows. I've watch from the back of the studio or engineering booth as the tapings took place. I had such a great experience with my WTTV-4 family. Bob will truly be missed. RIP Bob!

Along with many, I grew up with "Cowboy Bob".
When I "outgrew" the show, I still had the pleasure of seeing him often but live and in person. He would frequent the DQ at 96th & 421 and I would be his server. A bank sits on the lot now.
Thanks for the many years of joy, the words of wisdom, and the laughter.
We need more people like "Cowboy Bob".
Thoughts and prayers are being sent to his family and friends.

I was shocked when I heard Bob was ill. I tried to call on Thursday to no answer and feared the worst. He was a man of honor. You could see the shyness in his personality covered by a tremendous positive attitude. He exuded the spiritual gift of Kindness. I will miss his stories esp. the ones he shared about his adoring wife and their many adventures. My heart goes out to Gail. I hope you can get on a plane and fly it through the heavens as you try to fathom the mysteries of the next life. Watch for signs for they will come. After my Twin brother died, my Bible fell open to Psalms 71. It helped me. I read it at his funeral. God bless you and be near you. With deepest Sympathy, Kathryn & Roger Maxwell
