I met Ed in 2001. I'm pretty sure Ed knew more about my home state of Texas than I did. I was blown away that he was willing to drive all the way to Texas for our wedding. My family ADORED Ed. They immediately counted him as family. Ed was so generous to me from the moment we met. He definitely helped make me feel part of the family. Thanks for everything Ed. We love you.

What can you say about "Uncle Ed?" His president was Charleton Heston (who was actually the president of the NRA). He was a Yankee by birth; Southern by choice. In fact I think he was an honorary Texan. He was a great story teller and he and Nan created some wonderful life stories in their time together that he liked to share (over and over!) When I was a kid I thought Ed was the smartest person ever. He had so much knowledge and life experience and he always had an answer for my questions. He may not have always been right, but he always had an answer. Also, Ed was very good and very generous to us grandchildren. In fact I can honestly say that I don't have any bad memories of being around Nan and Ed. Of course Nan like to talk about one particular undesirable moment I had at their house when I was 3, but I don't remember it, so it doesn't count. So as "Uncle" Ed enters into the next life I think he will leave behind a great legacy. Among the lives he touched in his personal and professional roles, it was Ed, Nan, and about 11 other people who founded, created, and helped to develop the Carriage Country Club, or what we affectionately refer to as "Camp." Down camp was where we went every year for vacation. Nan and Ed would stop at "Pappy's Pizza" on our way down camp with cousin Norm and me. Some of my most fondest childhood memories have to do with being down the camp. Down the camp this past August is also the last place I got to spend time with "Uncle Ed." Now he is with Nan and neither one has any physical limitations, hurts, or weaknesses. Benjamin Franklin said this about being remembered after you are gone: "Either do things worth writing, or write things worth reading." "Uncle" Ed certainly lived a life that I obviously feel is worth writing about, I hope somebody gets something from reading about him. Thanks for the memories Uncle Ed. Rest in peace and give Nan a kiss for all of us.
