Remembering,

I remember Rayna from Olney high school. We sat next to each other in our home room because of our last names. Rayna was always honest, funny and whip smart. I´m so impressed with her teaching abilities but not surprised. She was one of a kind. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. May her memory be a blessing. One of a kind a complete original. I still quote some of her comments to my kids.

I just learned of Raynas passing a short time ago. I always talked about Rayna as we attended Olney High School together and we're in the same home room and sat near each other as my last name was Blank and she was Block. Rayna was bright, sharp, smart and most of all honest. She would have something to say about everything whether kind or just plain honest but you always knew where you stood with her. I often recite some things she said to me during our time at Olney. Years later I would form a friendship with her sister in Center City where our kids attended the Y. I would see Rayna from time to time at our high school reunions. She remained the honest and funny person always. That kind of honesty is a pure unfiltered attribute. She's was an original, I was so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a true bright light. My deepest condolences to her family. Gone too soon.

Mrs. Goldfarb was a juggernaut when it came to teaching English, especially at Abraham Lincoln High School. Her precise diction and love for seeing students excel beyond the classroom will always be remembered.
I have no doubt that she lived a full, inspiring, and fulfilling life.

I just happened to be watching an interview with a celebrity on television who said his greatest influence was his favorite English teacher and I thought of mine and decided to google Rayna Goldfarb and was so sad to see her obituary. This woman changed my life forever. She is singlehandedly responsible for my love of books and the reason I started a book club. She was so special to my class (class of 1977 University City) that when she was expecting her first child we surprised her with a baby shower! She was so touched that she talked to me about it many years later when we spoke over the phone. I will always carry a special place in my heart for Rayna Goldfarb.

October 27, 2016

I just found the obituary if Rayna Goldfarb. Tanya and I went to Olney High School together and were in the same homeroom. She was one if a kind. You always knew she would tell you the truth. Years later I moved into center city, married and met her sister Carol and we became friends. Carol was also extremely bright and was an illustrator whose work was on display the Art Museum. Carol died at the age if 39 from a ruptured appendix. She was too young. She also had great cancer at the age if 31. I would see Rayna from time to time at Olney definitions and we would talk about Carol and her sons. Tanya was a life force. She was energy in motion and full of life and high spirit. I was so sorry to learn of her passing. My thoughts are with her family.

Michael...Cory told me the sad news about your mother. I have good memories from years ago when some of The Haverford School moms spent some evenings together out for dinner. We laughed a lot. Mom was a seriously funny woman who never had to try. It was a gift....Please extend my sympathy to your father and sister..

Mrs. Goldfarb was an amazing human being she would always come to work with such high spirits and a passion for changing lives and challenging her students. Mrs. Goldfarb was my all-time favorite teacher. When you came to her class you just knew you were going to fall into some knowledge and life lessons. She will be greatly missed. To all of her close family and friends my deepest regards and condolences. I wish we had more time on Earth with Rayna. May her spirit rest in peace and her family and friends forever carry on her lasting memories.

Stanley: The room got brighter whenever Rayna came in and my memories of her always put a smile on my face. I am very sorry for you and your kids.

Should you wish to get away for a while, think about staying at my place. It's roomy, quiet, adjacent to Great Falls National Park, the river and a good spot to relax. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Rayna was unique; she could be so funny but at the same time very serious. Her illness was tragically so depleting; she deserved a better fate. She was so full of life and had much to offer.
I will miss her and mourn her loss.
I extend my heartfelt sympathies to all her family and friends.

Rayna's passion for teaching and her deep dedication to her students were just some of her many endearing qualities. I will always remember her wit, sense of humor and conviction that her students could learn and achieve anything. She was a great leader, mentor, colleague and friend.

Mrs. Goldfarb was such a great and funny teacher. From her quirky statements to her Ides of March outfit and all her visits to Mrs. Kardon's office while I was in there, as well as all of her stories that she used to tell us from when she was younger! I am so glad I was switched to her English class my senior year of High School. Such a great person inside and out, she will surely be missed by many. May she rest in peace and many prayers to her family and friends!
