Robert Lee "Butch" Corey

Robert Lee "Butch" Corey, 63, of rural Veedersburg passed away Wednesday July 26, 2017.

Butch was born October 4, 1953 in Crawfordsville, Indiana the son of Robert Lincoln "Bob" and LaVera (Parkinson) Corey. He married Tommilou Brown June 23, 1973 at the First Christian Church in Veedersburg; she recently preceded him in death on May 10, 2017.

He is also preceded in death by his parents, and two grandchildren, Audrey Alexander and Elias Alexander.

Surviving family include two daughters, Amber (John) Carver, Veedersburg; Allison (Matthew) Alexander, Kingman; a son, Rob (Brittany) Corey, Covington; a brother, Ronald W. "Bill" (Janis) Corey, Danville, IN; three grandchildren, Eli Carver, Ashlyn Alexander, Easton Alexander.

Butch graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1971; He played baseball while in high school and also pitched one year at Parkland College.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Veedersburg. He had been employed full-time for over 45 years at Corey Bros. Sawmill near Kingman; where he and his cousin Kenny Corey worked as owner/operators of the business their fathers and an uncle started many years ago.

Butch was an avid golfer; he enjoyed fishing and a good card game with his family and friends. He also enjoyed many other sporting events with IU Basketball, Cincinnati Reds, and the Green Bay Packers being among his favorites. Although his favorite sports teams were the ones where his children or more recently his grandchildren were members; and he hardly ever missed a game.  

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday July 31 2017 at Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Mark Ward-Bopp officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday July 30, 2017 at the church with Masonic Service beginning at 6:45 PM. Burial will follow service at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. Due to the recent passing of their mother, in lieu of flowers Amber, Allison & Rob would ask that all memorials be made as contributions to the F. & A.M. Lodge 491 in Veedersburg.
