I will always be grateful to Anna Belle Nimmo for getting me involved in the Freeport Parks Foundation. She was a wonderful role model in having a vision for a civic project, and following it through with a passion and humor! She was instrumental in shaping the Commissioner's Garden at Krape Park, a beautiful legacy for generations to come. Take a look: http://freeportparkdistrict.org/foundation/projects/.
I will also miss her stories of far-away trips and how she started acting in the little cottage/playhouse on our Rawleigh-Koenig property!

We all should count ourselves very fortunate for Anna Belle touched our lives in so many ways. I counted her as one of my best friends for the past 31 years. The nature of our lively conversations, often puncturated with laughter, and the letters we exchanged covered a wide range of topics. Even though I was just a nephew by marriage, I treasured my status a true friend. My prayers go out to all of the Koenigs and her son Taun.

I became acquainted with Anna Bell Koenig Nimmo when I lived in Freeport in the 1970s. She represented a direct link to Freeport's history and its association with the philanthropy of her family (Koenig / Rawleigh) which haelped to shape Freeport in the first half of the 20th century. She was a delightful story teller and all round great person.

I had great pleasure in taking care if Annabelle these last 3.5 yrs that i have worked at Parkview. I grew a great relationship with her. She was their for me during my surgery and checked on me every day. I stood by her side during her time of need. She was a dear sweet resident of mine. And Taun I am so sorry for your loss. You had a wonderful mother. I took honor in meeting and caring for her!!! She is not in pain no more and she is with her GOD. Annabelle and m shared many stories and many many jokes that I will never forget. I will always be her "Dixie."

Anna Belle's passing is certainly a milestone event for the community of Freeport! With the passing of our own dear mother, Helen Edith(nee Pospischil) Kornfeind - a life long Freeport citizen at age 95, yesterday the significance of these events is not lost on me. Mom, number of my brothers, as I are appreciators of Freeport, Illinois' rich history! Taun, personally I do not know you, nor did I know Anna Belle, but in our own grief I wanted to reach out to express our family's condolences and recognize in appreciation all the gifts that your family has bestowed on the wonderful community and people of Freeport. We are enhanced for this fact! As I wrote to Scott Werntz on the Facebook site " You know you are from Freeport, if...", that I kind of visualized your mom and our mom traveling the same route and sharing their respective opinions about the community that they both loved. Taun I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mom was so proud of you and treasured your visits. Very happy that I had got to see her on March 7th. She was a Great Lady and will be missed by her family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Anna Belle's passing, I was talking about her with her sister in law just a couple of weeks ago. Another of the leading women of Freeport is gone, the world is a little darker without her smile.
