Bob, I'm so sorry I didn't get to say this in person. You saved my life. I came to you when I was 28 years old ( I am now 67). I was very confused. A lovely man had asked for my hand. My parents would have disowned me if I married him. I am Jewish, he was not.
For the first time in my life someone (Bob), said "It's your life. You deserve to be happy. If by committing yourself to this man , that you dearly love, you will lose your parents, what kind of parents are they?"
Bob told me to go home and write the pros and cons of this guy. I did. The pros were numerous, the cons very short. I showed the list to you Bob. You said, this is your answer.
I shudder to think if I hadn't met you ,Bob.
My life has turned out wonderful. I married Scott. We've been happily married for 38 years. Because of you dear Bob, you cut to the chase quickly. You helped me see my life was my own NOT my parents.
Thank you Bob, from the bottom of my heart, for helping me achieve my "happily ever after".
I thank you for being there at the right time and being so very wise.
With love and effection,
Sherry M.Kass

I was so sorry to hear this sad news. Bob interviewed me for the counseling position at North and subsequently hired me.
I enjoyed working under his guidance for 13 years and he was always a kind and gentle man, keeping the needs of his students foremost.
Good by, good friend.

I really loved taking care of Mr. Soptic as I was blessed to have taken care of him at two different hospitals. I thought a lot of him and was sad to hear he had passed. He was the kindest man from the moment I met him. I know he is not hurting any more and know that he made a lasting mark on my heart.

I am so sad that John and I missed Bob's funeral. Bob was one of the most caring individuals I have ever met. When I first started teaching at St. Agnes, his and Rose's friendship was such a comfort to a nervous new teacher. His friendship over the years was a joy and an example of how people should be treated! It is obvious that our world is a better place because of Bob.

Mr. Soptic was such a great man. I went to St. Agnes, where he was a substitute teacher for a long time. My favorite memory of him is that when one of us in class would ask to use the restroom, he wouldnt let them go unless they said May I use the restroom as opposed to Can I use the restroom. If we said can I, he would poke fun at us and say, I dont know, can you? Mr. Soptic was such a funny, kind, endearing, and selfless man who was greatly appreciated by many. He was so loved and will be dearly missed. Prayers for his family and friends, especially friends in the St. Agnes Community.

My prayers go out to you and your family at the passing of Bob. I had the privilege of working with him at Hillcrest Junior High and SM North. I will always remember him teaching my world geography students how to polka during our cultural fair. What fun! At North, he was so helpful to all the students he worked with. We always looked forward to his shoe drive for his charity. He was so kind and helpful to me and my students. God bless you all at this sad time.

Mr. Soptic was one of the best teachers at St. Joe high school. He and Mrs. Soptic were very special people. So glad the class of 66 got to be with them at our 50th reunion. He will be missed.

We will truly miss Bob. He was the ultimate neighbor, friend and father substitute for us. In our over 30 years of being his neighbor, he helped us with countless tasks and through several crises. He made us feel a part of his family. We will take care of Rose for you, Bob.
