It's been 3 years and I still think about Mike all the time. I am still at Capital One, where I first met Mike. Funny story how we first met... He was hired to be our new CTO in Auto Finance, and I had not met him yet. I needed his approval for something, so went to his office get that approval, but he wasn't there. I was looking for something I could write a note to him on...but nothing was on his desk (he hadn't even fully moved in yet). So I opened his desk drawer to look for a pen and post it. That's when Mike walked in the door. I awkwardly said, "Nice to meet you! I don't normally rifle through our CTO's desk, but well, here I am!". Mike laughed and that began a great friendship. Even after he left Capital One, we still stayed in touch, and he was the FIRST person to sponsor me on my Susan G Komen 50-mile walk... Mike was always there when you needed him, and when you needed a laugh, Thank you, Mike, for all the memories.

My heart is truly broken and I am saddened by this sudden tragic loss of my brother Mike. This is a prime example to stop to smell the flowers, stare at the beautiful sunsets just a few seconds longer & take the time to still pen a letter to those you love. Just a simple hello, just thinking of you and how are you? In this technical age, it's very important to keep in touch outside of the digital realm!! We never know what someone is really going through unless we stay in touch. Each and every single one of us are only here on earth for awhile. No one knows how long of awhile... so make each day count in a positive manner. Respect, love, compassion, understanding, humility & gratitude are important.
We had alot of great times together that I will cherish forever! I was really looking forward to many more since our children grew up and just a little extra time. What comforts me though is thinking of God's Promise, that is what comforts me. We are only human and I will miss him so very much for the rest of my days here. Love ya always~your Sister

I will never forget Mike's leadership and HUGE personality at Capital One. He was a man who truly cared for the people who worked for him...that is rare indeed these days. I will remember Mike's great sense of humor and how he drew everyone in with his presence. He was like no other CIO I've ever come across...he was the best.
My world is sadder without Mike.
