dearest david, dear friend, i think of you often, but february 10 is always a sad day. i prefer to remember you on auguast 16 and our days on a sunny beach...malibu, zuma, wherever the wave were best.

you are always near my heart when a helicopter passes overhead.

you were, and are, deeply loved by many. you are missed.

love always, randi

i was lucky enough to be in david's orbit for a few years after high school. he was an amazing person. i think of him often. one of the most amazing experiences in my life was when he flew me over the water, right on the coastline, of crystal cove in laguna beach in a helicopter. he loved letting people have their own existential moment flying with him. he was a gift. really. he was a gift. and he left too soon. my love to his loved ones. randi piper

It is with deep regret and sorrow that I learn of Dave's passing. Dave was my flight instructor at Van Nuys airport, but he was more like a good friend who always made you feel capable of anything. We lost touch after I moved out of state many years ago, but you never forget someone like Dave. I remember him as larger than life; a funny, caring man, and who can forget his infectious smile. I also recall how he pushed me hard as a student pilot knowing I could always challenge myself to become better, safer, more proficient...something I appreciate to this day. Albeit belated, my thoughts and prayers go to Dave's family, loved ones, friends, and fellow professionals who knew what an exceptional talent he was. You will be missed.

I knew David Gibbs too little while he graced us all with his clarity of purpose and a zest for life that enlightened all who met him.

In Dave's career he was blessed as few of us are with the ability to fuse all aspects off his passion into his profession and do it at a level that achieved an art form with an impact appreciated by millions.
He will always be in our hearts.

I got to see Dave's big smile and get a big Dave hug every Monday during football season. He was amazing at his job and it was obvious how much he loved it. He will be greatly missed by the entire Monday Night Football crew.
Peace and Joy to you my friend, Dave...

Dave was the lead pilot for the aerial camera used on Monday Night Football ...he, along with cameraman Dave Arnold, created weekly magic with their scenic shots from the various NFL cities we visited.

Mondays are busy days for us in the production trucks as well as for Dave...but he never failed to take a few moments out of his day to talk aviation with those of us on the crew with the itch to fly. He and I also had time for some really good heart-to-heart talks about life squeezed into those hectic days.

All of us on MNF send our thoughts and prayers to Dave's fiance, family, friends and associates. He will truly be missed. Chase the shouting wind, my friend...Bo.

Dave, Words are at a loss as we try to formulate our heartfelt memories, our respect for you as a talented pilot and our awe of you as beautiful man. We want to run away and pretend this never happened but sadly reality makes this impossible. You were and will be remembered as a fun loving and incredibly talented consummate professional and so much more in so many ways. You demonstrated to those around you that your smile and verve for life can make the impossible possible. Thank you for being you and for being amazing. We worked on the Amazing Race together for many seasons and your impressive collaboration made our journey together a delight which resulted in award winning outcomes for both of us. While this was not the intent, your humble nature to work as a team is what made this happen. Your work ethic blessed many on this show and many others on other projects you worked on. You are missed and this world will never be the same without you in it. Our love and prayers go out to your fiancé, your business partner(s), your family, your friends, your furry companion and the blessed souls who were fortunate to have graced your presence. The aviation community feels your loss tremendously and will always miss your talent and your you being you. More to say but for now we are honoring you tonight by watching your final season of the Amazing Race 22 with a new respect and tears deep inside knowing this show will no longer get to have you as their aerial eyes. Till we meet again, take care you beautiful soul. xo Deven & Bree

What a tragic and sudden loss of such a great guy! My heart goes out to his family and friends. I haven't seen David in years, but will always remember him with a warm fondness. So nice and always able to make me laugh. The times that I was able to fly with him were so much fun. He sure love it. I hope there are great swells in heaven so he will be able to hang 9, well probably 10 up there. My thoughts and prayers are with those of you who loved him.

I haven't seen Dave in 30 years but I will never forget the first day of art class in 10th grade when he sauntered to the back if the class with his charming grin and Flip Wilson walk. The nicest guy with a beautiful smile.

To all of David's family, friends, and loved ones, I am so very sorry for your loss. Although David and I had lost touch over the years, he always had a special place in my heart. I am sure everyone feels that way because he was an amazing and wonderful person. It was so long ago when we were friends... I remember his first flying lesson. He was in awe and he never lost that awe and passion. He took me flying and surfing, and sometimes he made me laugh so hard I could hardly breathe. I cherish those memories. I am so happy that I knew him. The sudden loss of David is profound for us all, but especially so for his loved ones. Please find some comfort in knowing that in this horrible time of sadness, all of us who knew and loved David are sending you love and prayers that your hearts will mend. We are with you. With all my love,
