Bogdan Danilovic Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 17, 2024.
Bogdan Danilovic, born in Wentorf, Germany on April 25, 1946, unexpectedly passed surrounded by his family on December 14, 2024, at the age of 78. A beloved husband, father, and Opa - Bogdan will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his joyful and optimistic spirit. Bogdan was a man who radiated happiness and shared his infamous words of wisdom, a joke or broke out in song, wherever he went. His sense of humor and zest for life left an unforgettable mark on his family and friends.

He was a devoted husband to Karen (Korfel), a loving father to Jeffrey (Colleen) and Jennifer Myers, and a cherished Opa to Caitlin, Connor, Abbey, Ben, Molly, and Emily. Brother to Pete, Anka (Dan), Vera (Jim), Milo (Tammy), Tom (Sandee), and many nieces and nephews. Bogdan is preceded in death by his parents Stanimir and Wilhelmina Danilovic.

Bogdan had many passions, which included the 40 plus years he spent as a teacher, coach, and drivers ed instructor at Columbia High School. Mr. D. enjoyed connecting with all his students and referred to going to work as "play" - he loved teaching! He also enjoyed his time spent working, golfing, and playing cards at Royal Crest Golf Course where he met many life-long friends. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and the Smoky Mountains with his "darling" wife of almost 53 years. He was most proud of all his grandkids. He encouraged and offered advice to them in his own unique way. It was likely to know he was present when out of nowhere you would hear his loud "yo ho ho ho ho" echo from the stands. He would have done anything for his family.

His life was a testament to the power of joy and optimism, and he will forever be remembered for the happiness he brought to others.

As it is written in Proverbs 17:22, "A joyful heart is good medicine." The joy he shared with others reflected the love he had for God and his family, and we take comfort knowing that he is now in the presence of the Lord.

The family will hold a private celebration of life in his memory. To honor the joy and generosity that defined Bogdan's life donations can be made to the Columbia Schools Endowment Fund, at the Community Foundation of Lorain County at the direct link - https://lorain.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=1454 or by mail 9080 Leavitt Road, Elyria OH 44035 (please note "in memory of Bogdan Danilovic" in the memo line).

I was first his student, then later had the pleasure of working with him at CHS. What a fun and wise man he was. Dan could tell a great story and had a fabulous sense of humor. Prayers and love to his family, he will be missed.

What a great man. I was fortunate enough to have been his student in high school and then later a colleague while teaching and coaching at Columbia. He taught me a lot about teaching and life lessons, too. Loved seeing him on the golf course. He always had time to stop and chat with anyone. God bless his family and be with you all.

My fondest memory of Mr. Danilovic is always his smile, his kindness and optimism wherever he went he was a very sweet man and always happy to see you. His Smile and love of Life will never be forgotten, and his spirit will always live on. May he rest in peace and God encircle his family in his arms with comfort.
