Brandon Christie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 18, 2024.
Brandon Lee Christie, born on September 6, 1995, had passed away overlooking the mountains on September 15, 2024, at the age of 29 in Saranac, NY.

After graduating high school, Brandon joined the Marine Corps as a 0331 Machine Gunner. Upon completion of ITB (Infantry Training Battalion) Brandon was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California assigned to 1st battalion, 1st marines Alpha Company - weapons platoon. He had deployed with Marine Rotational Force Darwin as well as the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit during his time in service.

After completing his enlistment with the Marines, he went on to pursue higher education. Brandon had first attended Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California where he completed an Associates degree before being accepted at Columbia University in NYC in 2021. At Columbia he became director of external operations for the US Military Veterans of Columbia University (Milvets) and was passionate about working with nonprofits such as Warrior Scholarship Project, Next Step Inbound, and Mentor Ukraine. In 2022, he received a service award at the annual GS Student Leadership Awards Ceremony.

Brandon was an incredibly intelligent, caring man who took naturally to the roles of teacher and leader. He was a solid friend and always had the best views in a crowd. This world was just too small for him and his presence will live on in all the lives of all those who were so lucky to know Brandon.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Allison Alexxus Christie, Uncle Randy Evenson, Aunt Laura Christie, Uncle Albin Schulist, and grandparents Lester Christie, Ray Mogensen, Stanley Schulist, and Agnes Schulist.

He is survived by: his father Mark Christie (Jennifer Wenzel), mother Pamela Bloy, step-father Jason Bloy, grandmother Carol Mogensen, sister Dana Garner (Dylan Garner) as well as his niece and nephews, Aurora, Roman, Abram, and Soren Garner.

He will also live on through his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

We are so sad that Brandon has passed away. We will always remember what a nice young man he was as a teenager: involved in sports, so polite, and having a wonderful sense of humor. Sympathies to all his family. Sid and Penny Wenzel.

Brandon was a fantastic person. I always appreciated him and routinely talked about him even after we were done working together.

Brandon and I got paired up for buddy squats for morning PT one day. Boots and utes, flack jacket and kevlars. For context: at this time in our lives, I was 5'9" and 150lbs. Brandon didn't even need to bend over to pick me up, he hoisted me like I was a barbie doll and squatted away. No sweat. Then, it was my turn, and I completed one whole squat with that giant of a man. I still laugh every time I think about it. My condolences, Brandon will be missed. Attached is a picture of Brandon, Canapi (probably the smallest guy in Alpha) and me in Australia.

He was always kind to me in the marines. I´d wrestle around with him and he could pick me up with ease. He was incredibly strong. I would be hiking and I´d be dying and tired. I´d look up the hill and I see him carrying all the weight. He was strong. Seeing him carrying all the weight still pushing made me hike harder and not give up.
