Brian Jenkins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 7, 2025.
Brian Henry Jenkins was born on May 2, 1968, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Helen and Norman Jenkins. entered eternal life on April 29, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. Brian attended Roosevelt High School with his twin sister Sheila. He was a popular student who enjoyed skating and dancing. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1986. He went on to enlist in the United States Navy and was stationed in Bremerton, Washington. He returned to Gary, Indiana in 1991. He would go on to work at US Steel corporation for 15 years. He would later meet and marry Victoria Caldwell. This marriage produced their only son, Brian J. Jenkins.

He loved to encourage his son BJ in every sport starting with pee wee football and biddy basketball. His son was his pride and joy. He made sure that he attended every basketball game, football game, and track meet. He collected and archived every certificate and trophy his son ever earned. Those who knew of him can agree, he was a serious sports dad. He would provide commentary on every play, whether he agreed with the referee or not.

He loved attending community events, parties, barbecues, and Steppers sets. He loved dressing in a dapper manner when attending Stepping parties every chance he got. In 2021, Brian would finally get his dream job working as a locomotive operator. He entered the training program and after two weeks, he contracted Covid. The infection lingered and severely damaged his heart.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Icy and James Bell, and his paternal grandparents, Edna Jenkins-Lampkin and John Jenkins.

Brian leaves to cherish his memory, his son Brian J. Jenkins Jr. (Victoria Caldwell) of Florida, Mother Helen Jane Stewart-Brooks El of Merrillville, Indiana, twin sister Sheila Jenkins-Crumble (Marcus), nephews Miles Crumble, Marcellus Crumble, Marcus B. Crumble, great niece Myliah Crumble (Patricia) Miles Crumble, Jr, Matteo Crumble, all of Sacramento, California, sister Andrea Jenkins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
