Carl Coakley Obituary

Published by Storke Funeral Home-Bowling Green Chapel on Jul. 25, 2018.
Carl A. Coakley, Jr. was called home to be with his Savior after a long, courageous battle with ALS on July 24, 2018. He passed from life into life at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 3, 1955. He was a life-long resident of King George with deep roots in the county. He would share his love for King George and its' history with anyone who cared to listen. He graduated from King George High School in 1974. Following high school he worked for Randall Mullins. He eventually took over the business, which became Carl Coakley Landscaping and Lawncare, which he operated for over 40 years.

Carl loved the Lord and had a servant's heart. He loved his church family and was a charter member of Two Rivers Baptist Church, where he had served faithfully as Deacon and on numerous committees within the church.

Carl was married to his loving wife Jeannie for 27-1/2 years, and the greatest blessing in his life was their daughter Katie.

He was predeceased by his parents, and in addition to Jeannie & Katie, is survived by his brother Gary Coakley and the Mills, Gulick, White & White families-in-love.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 27, at the Storke Funeral Home in King George. A "Celebration of Life" service will be at 11:00am, Saturday, July 28th at Two Rivers Baptist Church, with burial immediately following at Potomac Baptist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Two Rivers Baptist Church, 6420 Rokeby Lane, King George, VA 22485 or Mary Washington Hospice, 2300 Fall Hill Avenue, Suite 401 Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Condolences may be left for the family at www.storkefuneralhome.com.

Dear Jeannie and Katie,

We came to know Carl over the years that he provided lawn service for us. He was so knowledgeable and courteous and friendly. We appreciated his kind and gentle manner. We have prayed for your family over the years that Carl struggled with his illness. We are sad to hear of his passing, as we will miss him. Yet, we rejoice that he is now home with the Lord, with a new body. We look forward to meeting him in heaven someday.

To the Coakley Family,
My prayers and thoughts are with during your loss.
As a member of the White Family, I have fond memories of buying summer fruits from Carl and talking with him. I remember during the big snow falls, how Carl would drive his tractor to our house and plow our driveway without anyone calling him and how Harold Jr. and Carl would fuss over money because Carl didn't want to take it. That's the kind of person Carl was. He did everything for anyone out of the goodness of his heart. We are all Blessed because he knew him.
May the family find peace and joy knowing that Carl was truly loved by so many.

To Jean and Katie;
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Lil Carl. He was a wonderful person and a neighbor many people wish they could have. Carl was a true example of a man of God. I remember buying fruit from him in the summer and talking to him while he was picking the grape, apples and peaches for us. He was such a wonderful person. I know there is a golden crown for him. I pray for strength for you and the family.
