Dona J. Poole

Dona J. Poole, 60, of Gilbertsville, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at home. She was born April 25, 1946, in Sidney, the daughter of Donald and Jean (Lilley) Gilbert.
She married Ernest Poole on May 23, 1964. He predeceased her June 17, 1999.
A long-time Gilbertsville resident, Mrs. Poole enjoyed employment as a tour host for Eastern Travel with Oneonta Bus Lines; in the flower shop of Village Florist of Bainbridge for many years; at H&R Block in Oneonta for several years; and she also tended bar at the Oasis in Oneonta.
Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and the flowers and gardens she carefully cared for.
She is survived by three sons, Steven (Tracey) Poole, Gilbertsville, Scott (Yvonne) Poole, East Meredith, Ty Poole and his fiance, Eva Carrasquillo of Pennsylvania; her mother, Jean Gilbert, Bainbridge; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Bret Gilbert, Gilbertsville, and Dale Gilbert, Otego; and two sisters, Cheryl Youngs, Arizona and Rhoda Slicer, Jefferson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Christ Church, Gilbertsville, with the Rev. Joseph Acanfora of Christ Church and the Rev. Carol Wilson of Charlotte Valley Larger Parish officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, at the Johnston Funeral Home, Morris. Burial will be in the spring in Brookside Cemetery, Gilbertsville.
Contributions in Mrs. Poole's memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice or the EMS Squad of Gilbertsville.
