Errol D Walker
June 22, 1968-April 6, 2021
On April 6th, 2021, the world lost an amazing man. He left us way too soon and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Errol D Walker was born at 10:49 p.m. on June 22, 1968, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport Iowa, to Elmer and Vodell Walker. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1986. He enlisted in the United States Army in July 1986. He was assigned to Company D, 2nd Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment. During his service to our nation, he received several medals. He was an expert in the 45-caliber pistol and was a sharpshooter.
After his return home, he attended Scott Community College from 1992-1994. On April 4th, 1994, he began his 27 years of service to the community by becoming a Davenport police officer. He started in the patrol division and was later assigned as a DARE officer, impacting several children's lives. He was promoted to detective and served in the gang unit with his brother-in-crime, and fellow "Bad Boys for Life," Damian Jarrett. He wore many detective hats (including his favorite, Peaky Blinders). He served in the property crimes unit, the computer forensic unit, gun unit, and ended his service in the warrant/intel division. During his 27 years, he received numerous accommodations and awards for his courageousness and commitment to the citizens of Davenport. He impacted countless lives both outside and within the department.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward. He is survived by his wife, Lori; son, Brayden; mother, Vodell; father, Elmer; brother, Erich (fiancé Tina); grandmother, Virginia; father- and mother-in-law, David and Mary; sister-in-law, Karen; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his true brothers and sisters in BLUE.
Private services will be held with burial and full military honors at Rock Island National Cemetery. The Davenport Police Department will be hosting a Celebration of Life for friends and family at a later date. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be directed to the "Brayden Walker College Fund" at any Family Credit Union location in the Quad City area.
