Gary Hughes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 2, 2024.
Gary Hughes was born in South Charleston West Virginia; but spent many happy summers at his grand parents farm in Haverhill Ohio where he adopted the farm work ethic. This strong work ethic would follow him his whole life as worked to put himself through college (both bachelors and masters) while also raising a family and being a loving supportive husband to his wife. He was well known for his love of dogs, horses and of course chickens. His chicken impression was second-to- none. He is survived and missed by his wife Carol Hughes, daughters Kathryn Crosby and Holly Christy, his sons in law Ethan Crosby and Carl Christy, his grand children Hope and Grant Christy and his dog Tater.

Dear Carol,
I was so very sorry to learn of Gary´s passing. I enjoyed meeting you and chatting with you at Spring Arbor. My heart aches for you and your family.

With deep sympathy, Lori

Never having written an obituary before I realize I left things off. I did not mention how he could fix anything - he was a master at solving problems and repairing things. He loved music, wine, food, and God. A special memory to me is him coming to see a show I was in twice because he wanted his sister to see the show.

Gary will be so missed. I remember when I first started at spring arbor, he smiled and would hold my hand. I remember one of my last times seeing him. He gave me a kiss on my cheek. I love how he always admired the picture of him and his wife on the wall.
