Harold Walker

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harold Herman Walker Jr on February 22, 2025; and with gratitude, we celebrate the brightness of his life.

A lifelong Florida resident and outdoorsman, he spent his life championing and preserving the natural splendors of the state for future generations. Harold was integral in the building of parks around South Tampa and the planting of live oak trees throughout Hyde Park. An avid sportsman, he began his career as the Florida Gators equipment manager and followed his love of sports throughout the remainder of his personal and professional life. He developed and managed a successful sporting goods business, Wilson Walker Sales, and spent the last seventeen years as the voice of the Plant High School Panthers football team.

Above all else, Harold was a family man. He was his children's and grandchildren's loudest cheerleader, fiercest advocate, and greatest champion, always encouraging their individuality and growth. His legacy lives on with his wife of forty-five years, Janna Walker, his children Whitney (Christopher Brewer), Taylor (Cissy Stanko), Kelsey (Lin Chen), and Anna, and his grandchildren Blake, Maisy and Hattie Brewer and Oliver Walker-Chen. Join us in remembering him beneath the shade of the oaks and the buzz of a Friday night football game. He will be dearly missed.

A service will be held in his memory at Hyde Park United Methodist, February 28th at 10:30 am. A reception to follow from 12-2 pm at Kate Jackson Park.
