JOHN HERGENROEDER Obituary
Age 96, of Sanford, NC, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Hergenroeder was born on Jan. 11, 1920, in Allegheny County, PA to the late Sylvester Hergenroeder and Clara Roose Hergenroeder. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army where he received a Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Hergenroeder was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Meny Hergenroeder and by a grandson, Forrest Fields. He is survived by a son, John Louis Hergenroeder, Jr. and wife, Linda of Apex, NC; two daughters, Barbara H. Haughey and husband, Bill of West End, NC and Cheryl H. Fields and husband, Ronald of Greensboro, NC; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, April 11, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at BRIDGES - CAMERON FUNERAL HOME. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Sanford, NC, with Father Robert Ippilito officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. To the family of Herky,
I was so very sorry to read of the passing of a real true friend. John and my dad (Chick Carachilo) were in the war together.
We talked about there time together in Italy. I am sure that you all know the story.
John will always be in my prayers.

I am sorry to hear about Hergy's death. I always enjoyed his war stories and the appreciation and friendship he showed me all the years I had the opportunity to work for and know him. He was a true American one in a million. His calls, emails and the chance to talk to him will be sadly missed. I wish I had his energy get up and go, he was always spunky had a smile and helping others fulfilled his life.
