John Sokolsky Obituary

John Paul "Pope" Sokolsky, 49, of Mayfield, died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the husband of Lori Dottle Sokalsky; they were married for 20 years.

John was born in Carbondale on Feb. 27, 1964, a son of Peter J. and Hazel Kitchura Sokalsky of Mayfield. He was employed as an union electrician with IBEW Local 81 and worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was a graduate of Lakeland High School, class of 1982, and was a lifelong member of Whitmore Hose Company, Mayfield.

He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and riding his motorcycle and quad.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jill Lawless-West and husband, Paul, Carbondale; and Megan Sokalsky; and a son, Matthew Sokalsky, both at home; two sisters, Arlene Kutch and Linda Cucura, both of Mayfield; a grandson, Tyler; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. John's R.O. Cemetery, Mayfield.

Friends may call Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m., at Ryczak-Harrison Funeral Home Inc., 901 Lackawanna Ave., Mayfield. Parastas will be at 7:45.
