Joseph F. Phillips

With heavy hearts, the family of Joseph F. Phillips, announce his passing on December 3, 2024, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He spent his final days surrounded by the love of his two daughters, in Austin, Texas.

Joseph, known as "Joe," to most, was born on August 15, 1949, in Austintown, Ohio, to Thomas Phillips and Jennie Harbol Phillips. After serving his country in the United States Army, Joe, had a successful career with General Motors in Lordstown, where he worked until his retirement in 2006. He was a resident of Champion for over 38 years.

Joe spent his time doing the things that he loved, which included traveling to see his daughters, and being "Grandpa Joe" to his grandsons. He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, playing the lottery, and gardening. He had a soft spot in his heart for his cat, which is fittingly named, "Tiny." Joe was a kind, and selfless person. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Those closest to him will remember him for his generous spirit, his reliable nature, and strong work ethic.

Joe is survived by his spouse Spring, his daughters, Jessica (Richard) Saxton, and Rebecca Phillips, and his grandsons, Aidan Alanis, Hudson Saxton, and Jadon Saxton. He also leaves behind his sisters Candice (John) LaBerto, Penny Binford, and Sharon (Stanley) Virgalitte. Aside from his parents, and grandparents, Joe, was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas.

Per Joe's wishes, a memorial service will not be held. He will be dearly missed, and thought of fondly, often, by those that loved him.
