Patricia Burstein Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2025.
Patricia A Burstein, splendid journalist, talented author, loving sister, dear friend, doting aunt and fine educator, died peacefully in New York City. A gifted profile writer and foreign correspondent, she wrote for The New York Times, Newsday, People, Modern Maturity, Time, San Juan Star and others, capturing voices as diverse as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Golda Meir, Jimmy Hoffa, Truman Capote and Bette Midler. She reported from post-coup Chile and Perón's Argentina, and authored several books, including Legwork, her twin sister's memoir. Later, she taught in NYC public schools as a Teaching Fellow and AmeriCorps recipient. Fiercely curious, tenacious, and ethically grounded, she told the world's stories with deep listening and zero self-promotion. She will be missed.
