Roy Gene Cornett
Roy Eugene “Roy Gene” Cornett, age 80 of Genoa, Arkansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 30, 2019 in a local hospital with his children at his side.
Mr. Cornett was born September 10, 1939 in Fouke, Arkansas, to Jim and Amanda Cornett. He is preceded in death by one son, DeWayne Cornett, his parents, his siblings, Howell “Big Son”, James Cornett, and George Cornett, Gladys Sprayberry, Maggie Smith and Corean Sprayberry. He was also preceded in death by Polly Carpenter the love that he found later in life but whom he loved dearly. He was looking expectantly to seeing her in heaven.
Roy loved to call Genoa home, but when he referred to where he lived, he would always say “Central”. Because before the two towns merged one was called Central and the other was called Genoa.
Roy Gene never met a stranger and he loved riding horses, going fishing, squirrel hunting, and dancing. Nothing made him happier than loading up a group of friends and taking off for a trail ride, except for dancing. He couldn’t sit still when the music started. All the family gatherings included dancing.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Steve Eddy of Genoa, Arkansas, one son Roy Allen Cornett of Valdosta, Georgia; one granddaughter, Angela Eddy of Conway, Arkansas; three grandsons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Whitney Eddy of Genoa, Arkansas; Clayton and Amber Cornett of Texarkana, and Chase Cornett of Maud, Texas; four great grandchildren, Gauge, Cheyenne, and Shelby Eddy, and Braxton Cornett, one brother, Allen “ Little Son” of Fouke, Arkansas; two sisters, Janie Cunningham of Texarkana, Texas, and Mary Crabtree of Fouke, Arkansas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas Chapel with Rev. Wallace Edgar officiating. Burial will be in Genoa Central Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 P. M.
The family will be at 16981 State Hwy. 196 Fouke, Arkansas.

I have fond memories of Roy Gene. In the 50's we worked together at my dad's service station on East Street. He was the most fun loving guy I ever knew. I will always remember his pretty 56 ford victoria that he kept spotless. Much sympathy for the Cornett family.

Uncle Roy Jean,
I will miss you for sure! The talks we shared, the laughs, the dancing, me calling you to sing to you in Spanish, to making you EGG ROLLS AKA breakfast burritos. , to making sure you had the biggest T-bone steak in Texarkana.! I love you and even though my heart is heavy, I know you are now with your true love Polly and all your family walking and dancing on them streets made of gold with no more pain no more sorrow. Its a bitter sweet moment for us here on earth but one day we shall all be reunited again. We will miss that smile of yours. That charming ways you had with us all but mainly I will miss your wisdom and advice. Thank you for the memories and for accepting me as your niece, for always reassuring me I wasnt alone and always had a home and family, and especially for loving me. Rest In Peace cowboy.
Te quiero mucho tío Roy.
