William G. "Bill" Neal, Jr., 83, of Washington, Pennsylvania died on Saturday, April 5, 2014, in the Donnell House, following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 23, 1931, in Dixonville, Pennsylvania, a son of the late William G. Neal, Sr., and Dorothy Nettie Walker Neal. Mr. Neal was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served with the Infantry, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 65th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, from October 23, 1952, until his honorable discharge, on October 22, 1954. For his heroism, and devotion to duty, Private First Class Neal was awarded the Bronze Star Medal of Valor. Mr. Neal was the founder and co-owner of the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., in Tylerdale, from October 1961, until present. Bill enjoyed taking cruises with his wife and stepdaughter, Sheri Kahle, to exotic places all over the world. One of the places he enjoyed traveling to the most was Korea, where he had fought in the war. He loved to come home and entertain everyone with the stories of the interesting places he had visited, the unusual food he had eaten, and the wonderful people he had met. On October 18, 1986, he married Martha Ashcraft Kahle, who survives. Also surviving, are two sons, William G. (Debra) Neal, III, and Michael P. (Sherrie) Neal, both of Washington; two daughters, Karen Sue Neal, and Stacey N. Eakin, both of Washington; two stepsons, Robert W. (Claire) Kahle, of Midland, Texas, and Gary M. (Theresa) Kahle, of Dormont; and a stepdaughter, Sheri K. Kahle, of Peters Township; seven grandchildren, William G. "G.W." Neal, IV, Sara E. (Matt) Geiger, Courtney R. Crouch, Ricky A. Williams, Alecia (John) Fincham, Donald "Adam" Kahle, and Noelle E. Kahle; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jane Necciai; and a brother-in-law, George Ashcraft, of New Eagle. Friends will be received on Thursday, and Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father William Feeney as Celebrant. Love & Prayers to the family of Bill Neal; a great man & friend to so many. My late husband, Don Miller & Bill and a few others; back in their young years called themselves the "Merry Loafers" WHY? Only they know because none of them were loafers, but successful men. One by one they are getting together again. Many Blessings to ALL.

My sympathy in your loss. Bill pretty much buried most of my family -- my father, mother, brother, uncles, grandparents, etc. Bill was respected by so many people. My mom and dad thought the world of him. He was always kind, always caring, always treating those who lost loved ones as if they were part of his family. Bill will have a big reunion in Heaven with all those who were fortunate enough to have been cared by William Neal and William Neal Funeral Home. I will miss him as will thousands of other people. Sincerely, Carole Yeager Novak Beck

Martha, Michael, Sheri, & Stacey,
I am so sorry for the loss of Bill. He was such a wonderful man and I know he loved you all so much. He and my father grew up together playing in the streets of Tylerdale and were friends all their lives. He took care of my family's funeral needs for longer than I can remember and always with dignity and respect. That dignity and respect for others and his love for his family will be his legacy and what a wonderful legacy it is. He is loved and admired by so many people for his soft, gentle manner. He will be greatly missed and can never be replaced. He was one of a kind. God Bless You Mr. Neal.

As a very young man I was introduced to Bill. My father and he were close friends and neighbors in the Tylerdale business community. He asked my dad to install some new doors in the old, original funeral home. It had to be done at night and this made Bobby Nic a little uncomfortable so he took me along as a sidekick. Bill explained to my dad "Bobby, it's not the departed that you have to worry about." a great Washington business leader and family man, kind, caring, generous, and always humble. God Bless You Bill!
