Gordon & Frank,
Sorry to hear of your father's death. He was always such a nice, pleasant, and delightful customer whenever we talked at Hoyer's years ago. Happy you were able to have him in your life so many years. God be with your families.

After reading some of the the thoughts of the man I knew as Uncle Pete. Its easy to see that we all carry some of the same memories from such a wonderful family. I to, remember the Candy dish were you could find tootsie rolls and mary janes. Damn were those maryjanes tough for a 5 yr old to chew. :)
Thanksgiving at Aunt Helens and Uncle Petes was also something I will never forget. From us little kids running around outside with the older ones. Lawnmower rides from Jimmy. The walk across the street to SW Johnson to see the shiny red trucks.
The warm basement that smelled so good.
The turkey was just as good or better the second time when we had sandwiches.
And then there was the other Holidays, someone correct me if I don't remember right. 4th of July at Aunt Maryjo and Uncle Jim's, Christmas at My Grandpa and Grandmas. Bob and Ginny. And I cant quite remember what we went to Aunt Ruths for but You could always be sure to find Uncle Pete telling a story with a voice Ill never forget.

When I first met Uncle Pete he was Mr. Brooks to me, the nice man around the corner who would fix my bike (actually he would fix anyone's bike) when it was broken. While he fixed the bikes his lovely wife would give us cookies and milk! More often then not my sister's & I would just go over to get some cookies from Mrs. Brooks! As the years went by he went from fixing my bike to looking at my car when something went wrong with it. Eventually he became Uncle Pete when I married his nephew and even Grandpa Pete when I gave birth to my daughters. It was a privilege to be part of his family. I will always remember the wonderful Thanksgiving dinners that he hosted for the whole family which required at least 2 seatings! What a great time you had at Uncle Pete's Thanksgiving! Rest in peace, Uncle Pete Send our love to Bob. xo

Here are a few coca cola in glass bottles,YooHoo,mary jane and tootsie rolls, mardoff's donuts, eating deli sandwiches every saturday while my dad and him fixed cars, wednesday night dinners(my grandmother was an awesome cook. He was the kindest and most giving person I have ever met. I was blessed to have him for so many years.
