My deepest sympathy to all the family. I met Jim when I stayed at The Brown Hotel and we became friends right away as the Buschemeyer Jewelers was at the hotel at the time. When I would come from Phoenix AZ to Louisville, Jim would pick me up at the airport. I will never forget how he met me at the airport with an umbrella ready for me as I came out of the doors from the airport when it was rainy, what a gentlemen you were. He would pick me up at Embassy Suites to have lunch and dinners on many of my stays in Louisville. My heart is heavy at this moment as he was so proud of Louisville especially down town. He educated me on his Roots. Jim, there is a place in heaven for you, I know, as you were such a gentlemen and the Love you had for all your family members as you shared it with me. Thank you for introducing me to the Brown Sandwich, as it was important to you that I try it as I was so concerned about the calories, you said to me, Rachel Life is Short enjoy and I did. I know that God opened his arms and welcomed you. Thank You Jim for your wonderful friendship. You always asked me for my dad especially when he turned 100 yrs young and when he passed on, you had a Tree planted in Jerusalem for him. My fond memories will be forever.

I grew up with Jimmy, Bennie & Pacie...they were my (relatives) from Bellfaire. My parents Ted and Leona Reiff were their (siblings). I stopped to see Jimmy with my husband John on our way back from Cinn. To Phx. We had a delightful several hours reminiscing about the Jewish Orphan Home. Jimmy remembered everyone's name. I am truly blessed to have know him. My deepest sympathy to the Davis family

I only met Jimmy a few times but he always impressed me as being very knowledgeable, charismatic and generous. I already miss him but his kind spirit will live on in the hearts of the many many persons he befriended, including myself.

Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for the loss of my friend, Jim Davis. He was truly a great man: funny, kind, and had the mind of a much younger person. The way he could recall things from several years past is remarkable! He was so strong: he would go to his chemo treatments and then come into work! I don't know anyone else that would (or could) do that! He will be greatly missed. I am a better person to have known him! I'm sure he and Benny are together again! I'll miss them both!

Deepest sympathy to the Davis family.
"Goodie as known by older family members" Jimmy was gregarious and never met a stranger. He was a friend to all with his big smile and loved remembering and relating past experiences. He will be missed by many. Cousin Leanore and Stuart

Bonnie, my deepest sympathy for your loss. I regret not being able to join you to pay my respects, but had a commitment I could not change. You probably know that your Dad sold me Linda's engagement ring in 1967. It was a whopping quarter carat, but all this struggling college student could affort. Also, on my 60th birthday he took me to lunch at the Brown. I had a Hot Brown, of course. He was a wonderful man and I hope your family continues to have many great memories of your lives together in the years ahead.

My deepest sympathy to the Davis family. Mr. Davis certainly made many people happy over the years with his engagement/ wedding rings and jewelry. My mother reminded me that Mr. Davis made a special wedding band for her. My father surprised her with this "new" wedding band many years ago. It has given her tremendous joy. Joann, I was an AHS 71' classmate. I know that girls and their fathers have special relationships. I hope your fondest memories and time help to ease your loss and pain. Louisville has lost a true "gem." Rest in Peace, Mr. Davis.

Mr Davis was my champion when I returned to Louisville after my tour of duty during the Vietnam era. Whenever I visited his shop on 4th street he mad sure everyone in the store knew that I was his other son. I would visit him during the business day just to talk and check to see how he was doing, he was the kindest, most caring man to me in Louisville. He made sure that anyone in his store knew that I was special to him. He was extremely special to me. Bonnie and family please know that the passing of Mr. Davis leaves the joy of the memories of his love as a monument to me. I am sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers. Shalom Chaverim.

What a wonderful man and good friend of Louis Maynard, my husband's father. Jimmy sold us our wedding rings in 1959 and other items over the years. Ron and I have good memories of him. We are sure he will be missed by many people as he was a joyful person to have known.

To the Davis Family, I remember Jimmy as always willing to help someone. With a kind heart, Jimmy's stories about the jewelry business kept us smiling. Jimmy taught my Father English when he came to this Country from Germany and my Father taught Jimmy German. An amazing man that will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies to the family. Jimmy Davis became part of my life when I went into Buschemeyers at the corner of 4th and Broadway to get a small gift! I got the gift, a job and friendship that lasted a lifetime! He was part of my life, my families and so msny people. He will be missed but never forgotten. Thanks Mr Davis! Sorry to his family, of which I feel a part, for the loss of such a wise man.

I always enjoyed listening to the stories Mr. Davis would tell about a lifetime spent in the jewelry business. As one of Louisville's oldest merchants, probably second only to his brother, he had seen it all. I never saw him when he didn't have a smile on his face and a kind word. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and countless friends.
