Allan Benjamin, 83, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle, Indiana.
Allan was born on July 27, 1941, to the late Carlton and Nathalie (Tuszynski) Benjamin in South Bend, Indiana. He has lived in New Carlisle, Indiana, since 1997, coming from Michigan City, Indiana, where he resided from 1967 to 1997.
He graduated in 1958 from New Carlisle High School and then in 1964 from Ball State University, where he met Marcia McKinney, who became his wife that same year.
Allan retired in 1997 from Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, Indiana, where he worked for 30 years as an industrial engineer. His real passion was farming, and Allan was also a lifelong farmer.
On April 11, 1964, he married Marcia McKinney at the former St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle, Indiana.
Allan is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marcia Benjamin of New Carlisle, Indiana; two sons, William S. (Danielle) Benjamin and David (Tracy) Benjamin, both of New Carlisle, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Joshua S. (Apryl) Benjamin, Dani (Colby Zeedyk) Benjamin, Karaline Benjamin, Addisyn Benjamin, Summer (Viplav) Dwivedi, Sydney (Jesse) Strean and Shelby Benjamin; six great-grandchildren, Rylee and Harper Benjamin, Myles Zeedyk, and Lily, Leia and Maverick Strean; and a sister, Barbara Sterner of Downers Grove, Illinois.
Allan was a member of Holy Family Parish in LaPorte, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, Indiana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 Bach Street, La Porte, IN 46350. Burial will follow in St. John Kanty Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or a charity of the donor's choice.
