Betty Seter, age 92, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025.
She was born on Dec. 19, 1932, in La Porte, Indiana, to Louis and Marion (Hibner) Sydow, who have both preceded her in death. In 1952 she married Charles Seter Sr.; they were married nearly 60 years before he passed away.
Betty is survived by her children, Linda (Craig) Seifert of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Connie (Tom) Benedict of Michigan City, Indiana; grandchildren, Scott (Jamie) Seifert, Jason (Val) Seifert, Julie (John Sikkelerus) Seifert, Thomas (Alec) Benedict Jr., Tammy Benedict, Charles Seter III and Christopher Seter; great-grandchildren, Haley Seifert, Tanner Seifert, Renee Seifert, Isaac Seifert, Ian Seifert, Savannah Seifert, Ryan Sikkelerus, Zachary Benedict, Sebastian Benedict, Cody Benedict, Sabryna Benedict, Olivya Benedict, Abel Benedict, Jordan Vesper, Kayley Vesper, Emily Vesper, Addison Vesper, Brooke Benedict and Bayley Benedict; daughter-in-law, Nancy Seter; and sister, Colleen Miller.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Seter Jr.; grandson, Michael Benedict; siblings, Albert (Lorraine) Sydow, Donald (Anna) Sydow, Louis Sydow Jr., Charles Sydow, Robert Sydow, James Sydow and Lois (Bill) (Ray Dopkins) Leffler.
Betty had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished spending time camping at Potato Creek. She found joy in fishing and took pride in planting a vegetable garden each year. Above all, Betty loved her family, who meant the world to her. She was a devoted, lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 1237 E. Coolspring Ave. Michigan City, IN 46360, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Solumn officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
