Dennis ("Denny") was the oldest of four children born to Oland Eugene ("Gene") and Doris Jean (DeMunck) Wolff of La Porte, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by a sister, Anna Mae (Sid) Peceny of North Liberty; and two brothers, Ronald Wolff of Walkerton and Bruce (Deb) Wolff of Hamlet. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Jason (Daniel) Peceny, Marisa (Ryan) McAllister, Andrew (Tonya) Peceny, Kyla (Kris) Tanksley, Jena (Chad) Stroud, Ashley Wolff, Angie Meyer and Bill Meyer; a sister-in-law, Marcia Todd Wolff; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Westville High School in 1966 and attended South Bend College of Commerce. He was employed by Hertz Car Rentals at both the South Bend Airport and Sacramento California Airport and Quality Dining in Mishawaka.
He loved antiques and interior design and could see beauty in cast-off furniture. He would add some gold leaf or a little dab of paint and bring it back to life.
He suffered a stroke at 65, had a quadruple bypass and aortic replacement at 74, but, unfortunately, congestive heart failure followed.
Even though he had a gruff exterior as he navigated his health issues, it masked the softer, more thoughtful person that he was inside. He had a quirky sense of humor and always tried to get others to laugh. We will miss you, Big Brother, and will always remember your kind heart. Rest in peace until we see you again.
There will be no service at his request. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, 219-362-3100. He will be laid to rest at Carmel Cemetery near Pinola.
Please send condolences to the family at www.LakeviewFHC.com.
He would love it, if you are so inclined, to send a donation to any Humane Society in honor of his departed canine companions, Kizzie and Max. Or deliver flowers to someone in a nursing home, whether they be family, friend or stranger. It broke his heart to see forgotten, lonely people.
