John Robert Zeese, 79, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, at 11:10 p.m. in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. David Kime officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, and Friday from 10:15 to 11 a.m. in the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church Legacy Center.
He was born March 17, 1943, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth(Neulieb) Zeese. On Aug. 31, 1963, he married Christine A. Sanders, who preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 1999. Then on July 24, 2010, he married Vicki Lee (Rockwell) Zeese, who survives Michigan City, Indiana.
Also surviving are three daughters, Connie (Rick) Jesch, Cheryl (David) Titzer and Chandra (Jeff) Michaels; son, John Ryan (Michelle Zlakowski) Zeese; grandchildren, Keith (Beth) Jesch, Kristen Jesch (Nathan) Rozzi, Kiara Jesch, Michael Titzer, John Titzer, Matthew (Seth McClain Johnson) Titzer, Gavin Michaels and Ryan Zlakowski; great-grandchildren, Owen Jesch, Nolan Rozzi and Connor Jesch; and brother, Thomas (Linda) Zeese.
John was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana. His hobbies included genealogy, gardening, a shared love of hostas with his daughters and attending spring training baseball for the Cubs and White Sox annually in Arizona with his son, John. He enjoyed getting together with his friends from Bethlehem Steel for monthly breakfast and watching football games at The Bear's Den. He also had a love of St. Bernards he bred with Chris, and co-owning sno-puff Samoyeds with Vicki. John took interest in watching all the different birds that visited the bird feeder he designed and built by his grandson Mike.
John graduated from Elston High School class of 1961. He was a designer at Bethlehem Steel Corp from June 1966 to August 1986. From August 1986 to 1991 he was project coordinator at Songer Construction. He was district manager at ATSI from 1991 to 1997, project manager at Orbital Engineering from 1998 to 2004 and project manager at British Petroleum, Whiting, Indiana, from 2004 to 2007.
