Nancy L. Johnson, age 84, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025.
Nancy was a loving daughter, sister and aunt who cherished her family and the many relationships she built throughout her life. She is survived by her sister, Carol Lambdin; her niece, Sara Lambdin; her nephew, Scott Lambdin (spouse Elizabeth) and their sons, Matthew Lambdin and Jeffrey Lambdin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Edna Johnson; and her brother-in-law, Ronald Lambdin.
A proud graduate of Michigan City Elston High School, Nancy went on to attend Purdue University's School of Business and the Chicago Board of Trade Commodities Institute. Her professional career reflected her intelligence, dedication and strong work ethic. She was employed by Simeral Commodities Inc. in Hinsdale, Illinois, a Chicago Board of Trade member firm, and later served for more than 30 years as office financial manager for Bunge Corporation at the Chicago Board of Trade.
Nancy truly knew how to enjoy life. She dearly loved her dogs and found joy in simple pleasures – walks along Lake Michigan, time at the beach and meeting up with friends. She had a deep affection for Chicago and everything it had to offer, especially shopping, attending plays and cheering on the Chicago Bears. A devoted Boilermaker, Nancy was also an enthusiastic fan of Purdue basketball.
Nancy will be remembered for her independence, warmth and love of family, friends and the places that brought her happiness.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Carmel Cemetery in New Durham Township, La Porte County, Indiana.
