Roger Tooker Obituary

Roger Lee Tooker Grand Ledge SFC (retired) Roger Lee Tooker of Grand Ledge, MI, age 74, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 with his loving family at his side. Roger was born April 29, 1938 in Eaton Rapids, MI the son of Aubrey and Mary (Darling) Tooker and had lived in Benton Township since he was 8 years old. He was a 1956 Graduate of Grand Ledge High School, had served in the Michigan Army National Guard from 1961 until his retirement in 1998 and was a lifelong farmer. Survivors include: his loving wife of 55 years, Irene (Brock) Tooker; loving daughters, Julie (Robert) Hadley of Charlotte, Kelley (Allen) Harris of Potterville and Lori (Mark) Harris of Charlotte; beloved grandchildren, Nikki (Jeff) Schwarz, Bobbi Jo (Brent) Elliott, Jessi (Eric) Villegas, Adam (Miranda) Coburn, Zach Coburn, Jake Coburn, Joshua (Ashley) Harris and Angela (Dennis) Warren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Judy Mascoli and Mona (Andy) Kingdon; brothers, Randal (Deborah) Tooker, Alan (Kathy) Lyon and Jerry (Janice) Lyon; sister-in-law, Susan Lyon and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his father, Aubrey and step-mother, Etta; mother, Mary and step father, Asil Lyon; brother, Walter Lyon and brother-in-law, Jerry Mascoli. Roger loved working the farm with his dad and passed that love to his grandsons who will continue the tradition. He also loved vacations driving across the U.S. (so he could see other farms) with his wife, children, grandchildren, dad and brother Jerry. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest treasure. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte with Rev. Ron Hutson officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may go to the Benton Township Fire Department for their Emergency Medical Services Department. www.burkhead-greenfuneralhome.com

i meet u through my father col.alan schnipke then worked for jim declurqu and farmed for many years and got to know roger on a daley passing and waving on tracters. often helping me fix somthing before jim found out lol i rember rogers dad helping me with idvice on the farm when jim was not around . and the van u baougt was my dad what a beatuaval van my prayers are with u and your famlay at this hard time todd schnipke

We were so sorry to hear of Roger's passing. He and Irene were wonderful neighbors to Bob and Florence during their farming years on Doane Hwy.
