RICHARD LINTON Obituary

RICHARD LINTON U.S. Air Force, Retired Richard "Dick" Linton, 79, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, May 7, 2013. He was born Jan. 6, 1934, to the late Vera Ferry in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he grew up and lived until he enlisted in the military. During the time the Korean War started, Dick enlisted in the U.S. Air Force with security as his specialty. His military career took him on a tour of duty in Vietnam as a member of the 6924th SCTY Squadron DaNang. After 22 years of proudly serving his country, Dick retired and made Las Vegas his home. Dick pursued a career with EG&G Special Projects, where he managed three airports and was promoted to the lieutenant's position from which he retired in 1998. As a proud Irish American, Dick became a long-standing member of the Las Vegas Sons of Erin. Dick was a true family man and that could be seen through his loyalty and admiration for his family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ginie Ferry. He is survived by his wife, of 34 years, Bonnie. Dick is also survived by his son, Kelly Linton; daughter, Lu Jean Morelli; and three sons. Dick is also survived by his granddaughter, Rebecca Morelli; nieces, Meghan Anderson and Angela Risewick; and great-nieces, Niki Risewick, Haleigh Anderson and Alexis Risewick. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at St. Viators Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas. His final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Vietnam Veterans Scholarship Foundation.

Uncle Dick Was The Best Uncle In The World. He Was More Than An Uncle He Was/Is My Hero. I Love You So Much. I Wrote A Poem For You:

I came into this life
You held me in your arms
You kept me safe
So no one could harm

You taught me values
Lessons in life I would learn
You taught me to respect
I gave you love in return

You have always been in my life
Through thick and thin
And now my lonely journey
Without you will begin

For you were my hero
Forever and a day
You will always remain that hero
Till I meet you again some day

I will embrace you in my arms
And hold on tight
I will stand by your side
And you will never leave my sight

I miss you so much
The pain does not ease
I pray you are happy
And finally at peace.
