Mary McInvale Obituary

Mary (Marilee) McInvale
July 11, 1930 - June 23, 2023
Macon, Georgia - Mary (Marilee) Williams McInvale, age 92, of Macon, GA, passed away on June 23, 2023. She was born in Sycamore, GA, the youngest of seven children. On April 12, 1953, she married Perry McInvale, in Macon, who preceded her in death in January, 2012.
She was a graduate of Georgia/Alabama Business College and had met Perry while they were working together at R.S. Thorpe and Sons (Thorpe's) on Cherry Street. She had been hired as a bookkeeper and he was a floor salesman. During her career, Mary paused to raise their daughter, Cheryl, and then later returned to Thorpe's. At the time of their joint retirement, the couple had worked a combined total of 79 years and she had been promoted to Office Manager.
Mary and Perry were charter members of Forest Hills United Methodist Church. She served in numerous volunteer capacities there, including holding various offices for their chapter of the United Methodist Women organization; however, her greatest retirement joy was role of Mom, Grandmommy and Aunt. Mary will long be remembered as a person who could help people feel better, simply by being with her.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Choate Bowen, of Jacksonville, FL; her two grandchildren; Melody, and her wife, Dawn Choate, and Stephen and his wife, Kimberly Choate, all of Jacksonville, FL; as well as numerous nieces; and nephews throughout Georgia.
A Service will be held on July 16, 2023 at 11:30 AM, in Cummings Chapel of St. John's Cathedral, 256 E Church Street, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name, to either Forest Hills United Methodist Church (www.foresthillsmacon.com) or to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida (https://www.communityhospice.com)

She and Perry always looked out for my family. We were very poor farmers, but they always added to our Christmas. I remember going to Aunt Mary's( Marilee) as we called her, graduation. She graduated # 1 in her class at Sycamore. Her best friends in Sycamore were Nell Wilson and Ethel Williford. They were called the 3 "W's". She was a great Aunt and great friend.

"Aunt" Mary was like a second mother to me. She was sweet, talented, and funny - just a joy to be around! She's reunited with "Uncle" Perry, and I'm sure they and my parents are having a large time in heaven. Prayers for peace and strength for you and your family, Cheryl! You know I love you!
