Gregory Dale Sarko

1964 - 2022

Gregory Dale Sarko passed peacefully with his family by his side in St. Joseph Mercy Health Center, Warren, Ohio at 7:38 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022. He was born in Warren September 17, 1964 to Francis Eugene Sarko and Shirley Jean (Blair) Sarko. He lived most of his life in Hartford, Ohio.

He attended Hartford Elementary School and was a 1982 graduate of Joseph Badger High School. He studied computer technology at Youngstown State University. For four years, he and his wife lived in Hillsborough County, Florida where he worked at Time-Life and Anacomp. In 1991 he returned to Ohio and was self-employed as Aladdin's Cleaning and later Greg's Carpet Cleaning serving Mercer County, PA.

Gregory did as much as he could with his children. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Vienna, OH where he served as a Eucharistic minister during the years his children were alter servers. He coached in the Hartford youth soccer league and was an ever-present dance, band, karate, and majorette dad, never missing a game, competition or performance.

He loved being part of his large, close family and enjoyed dinners, parties, picnics, holidays, concerts, amusement parks, races and campfires with as many family members gathered as possible. His most cherished memories are the more than 25 summer vacations to Siesta Key Beach, FL with anywhere from 20 to 50 family and friends. When not with his family, he could be found in his dad's old Lazy boy chair watching NASCAR or the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Gregory was a proud penny-pincher, refusing to buy a new vehicle his entire life. He was never more happy than when he scored a "slick deal" as he called it. But he loved buying raffle tickets to support fundraisers and he was very lucky to win many of the prizes.

Gregory was always quiet, calm and caring. He never ate or used the last of anything in case someone else might want or need it.

Gregory married Angela Brady on June 27, 1987 at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Vienna.

He leaves his wife, Angela Sarko; his mother, Shirley Sarko; two children, a son, Bradley Dale Sarko of Vero Beach, FL and a daughter, Caroline Rose Sarko of Cortland; a sister, Laura (Dave) Hall of Farmdale; four brothers, Joseph (Ruth) Sarko of Howland, Gary (Cindy) Sarko of Cortland, Mark (Janice) Sarko of Cortland and Matthew (Cindy) Sarko of Kinsman; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Virginia and Timothy Brady of Lakeland, FL; three sisters-in-law, Dianne Buran of Seffner, FL, Catherine (Jeff) Sallman of Titusville, FL and Julie (Brian) Graves of Lakeland, FL; several nieces and nephews and the best dog, Max.

He was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Johanna Sarko and his maternal grandparents, Dale and Jessie Blair.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lori Hemrock and the Hope Cancer Center, and Dr. Afshin Dowlati and the Seidman Cancer Center, especially the 6th floor Lakeside Staff.

Funeral service will be private for the family.
