I am so sorry to hear of Ethan's death.
"The risk of love is loss, and the price of loss is grief -
But the pain of grief
Is only a shadow
When compared with the pain
Of never risking love."

Though I didn't know Ethan, I went to school with his father Hal. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Ethan truly was a brilliant young man who had much, yet, to add to this world.

Ethan was by far the smartest guy I knew, and one of the most friendly to boot. In school I remember him as always being so genuine in everything he did and said. It stuns me that one of our best can be gone so soon.

Dear Scooter and Mary,
I was so saddened to hear of the loss of your son. It's every parent's nightmare. He had so much to give and it's all been cut so tragically short. Scooter, you've always spoken so highly of your family and have been so proud of your children. You gave Ethan the greatest gift parents can give - your son knew he was loved, truly and deeply. Yours and Mary's love will help your daughter deal with all of this...this must be so hard for her too. My heart is weeping for you at this difficult time. Many blessings to your family and all of Ethan's friends who are hit so hard by this. I won't be able to be at the celebration of his life on Sunday but my thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Alhtough I didn't know Ethan personally, my daughter attended Ashland High School at the time Ethan received his SAT scores. The whole school was ablaze that Ethan had scored 800's on his SAT's. My daughter tells me he was friendly and well liked. I just remember all of us amazed at his SAT scores. Dr Townsend (Ethan's dad) treated my son's broken arm. It was clear that he loved children. I am sure that Ethan was adored by his family. I just wanted to share my small tidbit of remembrance.
