Thomas Lichtenwalner Obituary

Thomas Lichtenwalner, 68, of Lower Nazareth, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on November 27, 2021. Tom was born on March 12, 1953, the son of the late George Lichtenwalner Sr. and Anna (Bremmer) Lichtenwalner of Bethlehem. Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Rosemarie.

Tom was the Senior Vice President of Finance at St. Luke's University Health Network. He was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and Shippensburg University and earned a Master's degree in Health Administration from St. Joseph's University. He began his career with Quakertown Hospital in 1980 and had been employed at St. Luke's since 1986. He was a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, having served as past President of the Appalachian Chapter. Over the years, Tom volunteered with the Nazareth Area Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Treasurer, and the Nazareth Area Blue Eagle Education Foundation. With his parish Our Lady of Perpetual of Help Church, he served on the school board and finance committee and also served on the Diocesan finance council. He was a devoted Pops who never missed a soccer game, an avid gardener, landscaper, and beach lover who could often be found walking in Lewes on the weekends. Tom had a heart of gold, and his fun-loving personality will be missed.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lisa Gridley and her husband, Joshua; grandson, Eli; brother, George Lichtenwalner Jr. and his wife, Judy; nephews Scott and Eric Lichtenwalner; other family members, friends, and beloved coworkers, with whom he shared many fond memories over the years.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 9 a.m.-12 pm. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18020. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be held at Holy Ghost Cemetery.

So truly saddened to hear of the passing of Tom. He will certainly be missed by all. He had a heart of gold. He always made time for you and always helped in anyway he could. I have been with St Luke's for over 35 years and have known Tom for all of them. He was just a kind, loving soul. I feel comfort to know that today he is Heaven with his lovely wife for whom he missed terribly when she left this world. May they be together once again and live "happily ever after". My sincerest sympathy to the family, his friends and co-workers for even though he is gone, he will never be forgotten.
