Mark DeBonis Obituary

Mark Alan DeBonis, age 47, of Middletown, DE, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 14, 2014.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 9, 1967, Mark was a son of Robert Vincent DeBonis and Corinne Lee Franklin DeBonis. He was a member of the McKean High School graduating class of 1985 and it was during that time that he met his soulmate and future wife, Julia. Mark possessed a deep passion for automobiles and after apprenticing during high school, worked his way to his current position as a master technician with NuCar Connection. He greatly enjoyed his career and went out of his way to make the workplace fun for his coworkers and the customers he served.

Mark adored going to car shows where he would bring his 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL that was previously owned by his father or the 2011 Grabber Blue Roush Stage 2 Mustang, which was he and Julia's dream car. He also greatly enjoyed attending motorcycle runs that benefited local charities and good causes. Mark was a man of faith and a parishioner of St. Hedwig Church. He possessed a a fantastic sense of humor and thorougly enjoyed making others laugh. Mark was loved by many people and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He would happily help anyone who needed assistance with a car problem or a friendly ear. Mark loved watching the birds in his backyard while sitting on his deck and his friends and family are encouraged to hang a bird feeder or birdhouse in his memory. Above all else, he was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Robert. He is survived by his wife of nearly 26 years, Julia Ann (Strupczewski) DeBonis; mother, Corinne; daughters, Alicia and Jessica DeBonis; brother, Robert DeBonis; mother-in-law, Josephine Strupczewski; brother-in-law, Anthony Strupczewski; sister-in-law, Mary Carson (Dannie); and nieces, Christina Carson, Rebecca DeBonis and Robyn DeBonis.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday evening, August 20, 2014 and again from 8 am until 10 am on Thursday morning, August 21, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Thursday morning, August 21, 2014, at St. John the Beloved R.C. Church, 907 Milltown Road, Sherwood Park, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

Mark was a longtime blood and platelet donor. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating blood or platelets to your local blood bank.
