OCTOBER BIRTHDAY CLUB NEWARK SENIOR CENTER

Good coaches, particularly in youth embrace all players regardless of their talent level. They measure success not by wins and losses but by the instances of unlocking the potential in each player. That process requires connecting with all players, understanding what holds them back, giving direction, encouraging them when they struggle or their confidence wavers.
First, Jesus needs us to “recognize the challenge.” This requires that I admit I labor to be the disciple I am called to be because I am burdened by things that I prioritize over consistent, committed discipleship. Lord, grant me the grace to recognize the burdens I allow to exist.
Second, Jesus encourages us to “do your part”. That means intentionally coming to Jesus, taking up his yoke and learning from him. Lord, grant me the grace of perseverance that I always come to and learn from you.
Third, Jesus reassures us if we “trust the system.” This is the most difficult for me. I must let go of those things I want to control. That desire for control only creates more burdens. Lord, strengthen my faith, and grant me the courage to let go.
Thanks, Coach. Your message is clear. Let’s do this.

Coach Carpenter was a truly, truly remarkable person. To this day I don't think I've met a more generous, caring, and compassionate man -- his example is one that I will always try to emulate. He will be dearly missed and my condolences go out to the Carpenter family.

Fred was a fun friend who "lived up the lane" from our family on Old Berwick Rd in Bloomsburg, PA. We shared a lot of laughs and memories. If you want to see Fred's family pedigree it is on familysearch.org. Someone recorded it back from Fred to the 10th C. The origin of the Carpenter name began in Melun, France in 1042 with his direct ancestor, Guillaune 'le Carpentari. Rest in peace my good friend among all your ancestors.

Mr. Carpenter was a tremendous coach and mentor to all those who wrestled at the Middletown wrestling club. He was there everyday at the old Ellis lecrone gymnasium to help us home our skills on the mats. I will always remember our trips to many AAU tournaments and the nationals wherever they might be... Indianapolis, Lincoln, Iowa city. He was always there to help us realize out goals.

To the Carpenter family
My deepest condolences and prayers for your family's loss.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Carpenter years ago as a youth attending Summer Recreation at Redding Middle School. Years later when our paths crossed we would always reminisce about those days and he was always interested in where many of the kids from back then were and how life has treated everyone.
Such a nice man who left a great impression. It was always a joy to be in his presence.
Sleep well Mr Carpenter, you've earned your wings.

Coach Carpenter was a fantastic coach, mentor and friend. He had huge impact on me and who I am today. I will forever be grateful and happy I had the privilege to call him my friend. This world got a tremendous amount of pure good because of the lives he touched. I can only hope to pay that forward as effectively as Carps.

Fred Carpenter was my gym teacher in elementary school back in the 70's. I am saddened to hear this news. He was the best! Couldn't wait to get to gym class! He found me on Facebook. He remembered who I was and where I lived. He remembered things that I didn't remember until we were talking. There has never been another teacher like him. He will be greatly missed! My thoughts and prayers are with his family! May God be with you all. May he rest in peace and spread his wings he most definitely deserved!

Fred was the closest thing I had to a brother, having grown up with two sisters all my life. The whole Carpenter family was part of my family as well. I remember when my father died and I was starting college, he helped me move into my first college dorm room. How blessed we all were to have known him. He always had a smile. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Rest well, Fred.
