Janet Louise Maggard
December 23, 1944 - July 1, 2014
Janet Louise Maggard went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at the age of 69. Janet was born to proud parents Hermon and Elizabeth Fendt on December 23, 1944 in Colusa, CA. Janet was married to the love of her life, Larry Maggard for the past forty two years.
          Janet attended college at Chico State and graduated in 1966. She then went on to receive her Master's Degree from SF State University. She was cast worthy advisor of Friendship Assembly Order of Rainbow for Girls in Colusa. She was also the President of one chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. After completion of college Janet then went on to be an educator. She taught at Beard Elementary School for thirty seven years. Janet was very active in her community where she served and volunteered on many committees. She was the first vice president and chairman of gala for the McHenry Museum, a member of the Modesto Garden Club, and also a member of Big Valley Grace Community Church. She was also a member of the Colusa Historical Society.
          Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Hermon and Elizabeth. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Larry Maggard; her sister Pat Connolly (Robert), and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
          Franklin & Downs is honored to be serving the Maggard Family. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday July 10th from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Franklin and Downs McHenry Chapel, 1050 McHenry Avenue, Modesto. A graveside service is set for Friday July 11th at 10:30 A.M. at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 P.M. at Big Valley Grace Community Church, 4040 Tully Road, Modesto.

I have not had the pleasure of meeting you Larry but I was in Janet's kindergarden class and we graduated fromn high school together. I am very saddened by her passing.

I met Janet when I first started teaching at Beard Elementary in 1979. Janet had a gift for decorating our staff room and was always the first person to contact when in need of ideas for other staff members. Rest in peace Janet, I will miss you.

I met Janet in Modesto Garden Club. She was currently the Historian. She did a fabulous job with the history books and kept them up to date. She and her friend Margaret always did beautiful tables for our Garden Club luncheons. She will be missed. She was a lovely lady!

I was lucky to have worked with Janet for 16 years at Beard Elementary and always admired her for her generous and thoughtful ways. I was lucky enough to continue to volunteer along with her at the Modesto Garden Club since both of us retired. I will miss her more than I can say.
