A. Vincent "Vince" Agnew

A. Vincent "Vince" Agnew passed away peacefully at his home in Naples, Florida, surrounded by his family and loved ones, on February 26, 2024. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 1, 1932, to Arthur Vincent and Mary Charlotte (Ricker) Agnew. He is survived by his children, Michael (Patricia) Agnew, Kathleen (Lee) Pucker, John Agnew, and Julie (Mark Klahm) Agnew; his grandchildren, Stephanie (Sean Dressler) Agnew, Laurel Pucker, and Vee Agnew; and many beloved nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Mary, wife Katherine "Katie" (Lane) Agnew, sons Matthew Agnew and Arthur Agnew, grandsons Duncan Pucker and Raymond Agnew, and sisters Constance Schnurr and Mary Lamphier.
Vince, a.k.a. "Iron Man Agnew," was an avid football lover who played varsity football, as well as basketball, at Vermillion High School in Ohio. Vince graduated from St. Joseph's College in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and in later years returned to volunteer as an investment advisor for the college's endowment; Vince was appointed to and served on the Board of Trustees from 1995 until 2007, at which time he was nominated and unanimously approved for Life Trustee status.
He was a US Army Veteran, having served for two years following his graduation from St. Joseph's. Vince went on to earn his MBA in Finance from Northwestern University in 1960. He married the love of his life, Katie, on April 23, 1960, and together they raised their family in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Vince joined Chicago Title & Trust in 1960 and remained there until his retirement as the Senior Vice President & Chief Investment Officer in 1994. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors for The Ernest C. Wentcher Educational Fund, established in 1997, and served until 2013.
Vince was a devout Catholic, a dedicated father and grandfather, and a ruthless Yahtzee player who loved golf and was always up for a game of bridge. He was an incredibly kind and generous man who touched many people's lives. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 475 Ninth Ave South, Naples, Florida. All are welcome. An interment service will be held at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois, at a future date with a luncheon for family and friends to follow.
