Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home - Springfield on Oct. 24, 2025.
Aaliyah Nevaeh Cobb, a radiant and intelligent young soul, departed from this world far too soon on October 21, 2025, at the age of 13. Born on November 18, 2011, in Joplin, Missouri, Aaliyah's life was a testament to the joy and light she brought into the lives of all who knew her. She passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, learning, and devout faith.
She was preceded in passing by her father, James Cobb Jr., whose memory she cherished deeply. She is survived by her mother, Lisa Cobb; sisters: Victoria (Derek) Louderbaugh, Ava (Chandler) Evans, and Olivia Cobb; and her extended family, who will miss her dearly but are comforted by the cherished memories they hold.
An avid learner, Aaliyah attended the School of the Ozarks on the campus of College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri, where her passion for knowledge shone brightly. She was a curious and engaging student, eagerly participating in class discussions and praying. Her intelligence was not just academic; she had an innate understanding of the world and people around her, making her a friend to many and a joy to her teachers.
Aaliyah's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She lived her beliefs through her actions, dedicating time to worship and serving with the babies at her church. Aaliyah's spirituality was a guiding force in her life, and her commitment to her faith was evident to all who had the pleasure of worshipping alongside her.
Aaliyah was a spirited individual with a zest for life that was infectious. She excelled in volleyball and was a great team player. Ailiyah also loved learning, science, and her heart was in singing and dancing. She loved worship and glorifying the Lord.
Those who knew Aaliyah would describe her as not only intelligent but incredibly interesting. She had an uncanny ability to find wonder in the mundane, and her conversations were always full of insight and curiosity. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of being part of her too-short journey.
We celebrate the profound impact Aaliyah made in her 13 short years. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, and her memory will be a beacon of light in the hearts of those she touched. We take solace in the belief that she is now singing and dancing in heavenly peace and embraced by the love of her creator.
