Aaron Mitchell Lathers, 45, of Bolar, passed away, Tuesday, October 25, 2022 while traveling in DeWitt, NY.
He was born January 1, 1977 in Albany, NY, a son of Susan Elizabeth (Mackerer) Lathers of Bolar and the late Mitchell Jay Lathers, who preceded him in death September 4, 2022.
Aaron was an alumnus of New Lebanon High School, where he excelled on the Junior-Senior Track Team. Always mindful of his own physical potential and that in others, Aaron would go on to coach the school's track team for several years, as well as pursue studies in nutrition and fitness. Additionally, he graduated from Columbia–Greene Community College and ultimately worked with his brother as a residential painter.
Aaron will be remembered for countless attributes, but most notably he had a life-long goal toward physical health and could often be found running, weightlifting, snowboarding and most recently enjoyed hiking in the mountains surrounding his home with his K9 companions. He also had a creative and artistic side, over the years producing many paintings, artworks, and exceptional furniture pieces. Aaron was one who never missed an opportunity to sit under the night sky, play a good hand of poker or blackjack and enjoyed to install car audio equipment. Additionally, he was an avid learner, who was well read and insightful, and "always a supportive big brother" to his sisters.
A spiritual person with great appreciation for nature and animals, Aaron had recently become more rooted in religion and possessed admiration for the Christian Faith and Saints of the Church. His attraction toward religion and "all things spiritual" came at no surprise as he always possessed and exhibited the qualities of empathy, love, truth, and the desire to see others succeed and achieve their full potential.
Overall, Aaron Lathers will be remembered as a unique, loving, and well-intentioned son, brother, uncle and friend, who's hearty and contagious laugh will be missed by so many.
In addition to his mother, Aaron is survived by sisters, Crystal D. Cmar and husband, Matthew of Saltsburg, PA and Amy D. Lathers of Sewickley, PA; brother, Jarrett H. Lathers and wife, Marjorie of Stafford; nephews, Jack Lathers, Elliot Michael and Ethan Cmar; his niece, Abigayle Lathers; uncle, Steven Lathers of New Lebanon, NY; an aunt, Jennifer Lathers of East Chatham, NY; as well as additional aunts, uncles, and cousins. Additionally, Aaron leaves behind his special K9 companions, Pilgrim and Flint.
In keeping with his wishes, Aaron's ashes will be placed in a location special to him by his family.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Highland County Humane Society, P.O. Box 458, Monterey, Va. 24465.
